Bob - Cheesy lentil squares? They are yum. Good cold in lunch boxes/picnics too.

Evening all
Thanks for the start Ally. Hope you enjoyed your run
I seem to be fighting off baby GD's cold, so feel a bit rotten and will have an early night
Maria, sorry to hear about the lamb prices. NZ is NOTHING LIKE as good as English (even if you ignore the food miles ), and I never buy it! It is tough and scrawny,ok for stews and casseroles but nothing else IMHO! Likewise we avoid Danish pig products (we were involved in farming for more than 40 years, and DS still is, so supporting British farmers is very close to our hearts).
Foxgloves, you do make me laugh with your cat and his dietary foibles :rotfl:
Not much accomplished today, as I went to an auction, bought a few bits for my business. Although not much is selling, it is still necessary to have enough stock to change around to avoid it looking stale
Quick tidy up before I went
OH did the hoovering while I was out :T
HM meals from stores - OH and I shared a piece of local rump steak from the farm shop for supper (yellow stickered, I hasten to add) cooked Nigella's Express way (love Nigella) OH had his with wraps and salad, and I had it with just salad. Lovely treat
Stuck to my diet :T
Bought another 'new' pair of jeans from ebay - I have gone down a size and was fed up with continually hoicking up the larger size, plus they looked rather strangeSo I have replenished my wardrobe from ebay, spending about £30 over the last couple of weeks on loads of jeans and tops
I have quite a lot of nice skirts and dresses, left over from my working days, but hardly ever wear them these days
I sold loads on ebay as they were mostly nice brands such as Next and Monsoon, but think I ought to hang onto some for weddings / funerals / formal occasions etc. I do really like the ones I have kept, just don't really wear them, as jeans are so much more practical
I still buy Next / Monsoon etc, just second hand from ebay now and not new from the actual shops as I used to do when I was earning a big salary
Done the watering in the back garden, still the pots at the front to do, but they can probably wait till tomorrow morning now.
Right, off to bed with a hot drink I think! Hope everyone is having a good day0 -
Hello everyone - I've had a busy couple of days so not had time to post but have just been catching up with you all.
Foxgloves - Just read about your family history project and the fact that you subscribe to 2 sites. I don't know if it applies all over the country, but in most towns and cities you can use the libraries ( or family history centres or record offices) to access 'Ancestry' free of charge. If you can get to a county record office, they hold a lot of original records. I've been researching my family history for 25 years and not finished yet!
Bob - Hope you are feeling better - when is the baby due?
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Morning everyone
Been up since half three, just couldnt sleep. Have done all my finance spreadsheets and if I am very careful I should be able to overpay the cards by £550 this month.
I have been searching for ages for a summer coat. I need something waterproof and smart enough for work but not so smart that I cant wear it with jeans and trainers. Have found a nice one online reduced to £30 so I hope it does the job. Like dawn I have had a few ebay bargains lately but couldnt find a suitable coat.
We met up with family yesterday and then were invited back to my sister in laws for a takeaway. This is a very rare treat for the kids but it set me back £22 for 3 of us! Sometimes you have just got to do these things though and thankfully there is a little stretch in the budget at the moment.
DS has cricket this morning so I am off for a shower, should be a spendfree day!0 -
Morning YORKSHIRELASS  I thought I was up early at 6.30
Dawn congrats on the weight loss :j
Feeling very positive and motivated at the moment :T had a lovely day yesterday, went to the beach with oh & dgd, then came home and spent the rest of the day in the garden. All meals from stores, house perfectly tidy & clean :T I resisted buying a bottle of wine yesterday even though we have some money left in our GC budget (managed to do shopping for the coming week for £16 using a couple of MOC and basing meals around what we have in the stores) but had a can of cider in the fridge instea
Plans for today:
* plant some salad seeds & beetroot (I know it's slightly late but gonna take the chance!)
* feed plants
* plant a root. I knocked on someone's door on Friday and asked if I could take a cutting of a plant in her garden which I loved. She then very kindly dug me up a root. Not sure what to do so just going to plant it in the border and hope for the best!
* check banking
* load in machine will put on line. It's a bit cloudy and drab but not forecast to rain
* put dgd's sheets and quilt in wash and hang on line. Dgd has developed this really annoying habit of taking her nappy off (and then weeing all night!)
* chicken thighs and drumsticks out of the freezer. Will make chinese chicken and roast the extras for packed lunches
* bake cake while oven is on
* all meals from stores
* get dressed and go to the bootfair shortly. Take dgd's reins backpack!
* take some photos and list some things on ebay
Made a decision yesterday that next week I am going to have a super frugal week. Only things I'm going to buy are essentials (milk, bread, fruit and veg). I have cut down since I lost my job but last week was quite expensive with the funeral and everything so this week going to really pull my horns in.
Also need to actually start looking for a job. So will start working part time at finding a job! I will do a quick tidy round/get dressed each morning when oh & dgd leave, then will do job hunting related stuff till lunchtime and then in the afternoon do things for myselfI mentioned to oh that I was thinking of looking for part time work but that went down quite badly...
Anyway enough rambling! Have a lovely day xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi Kayannie
Glad you had time to stop in, I'm enjoying a slower pace this weekend. Due in early October thanks for asking. Not enormous yet. Just got to the bit where strangers are risking the enquiry 'are you expecting?' I wonder what they'd do if I said no
have a good day!

Hi All,
People still think I am expecting and my last birth was over 20 years ago! Occasionally I talk about getting my pre baby body back quickly just to see people do a second take!!:D
Been in garden since 6 picking blackcurrants. Any of you proper gardeners out there, my main crop has big bud and the books say dig out and replant different variety. I still get a bit of a crop and realistically enough for my needs, should I dig up and restart or just plod along with a rubbish crop? No idea really.
Still not a goose grandma, 9 june she started sitting, so 31 days so far, am wondering and wondering and wondering....
I froze the blackcurrants as I can not be bothered to make jam today, I think I will have a busy day doing nothing.
Enjoy the wimbledon final all, such a shame when it all ends. Have a lovely sunday.:)

Yorkshire - really sorry you have had such a bad night. Was it worry or just insomnia? Sounds like you made good use of your time. And will have an excellent overpayment next month. Glad the kids enjoyed their treat yesterday.
Dawn - hope you feel better soon. You are doing great with your dieting. And ebay bargains. I need to get new clothes but as my daily life is so messy and unglamorous I put it off month after month.
Determined - your day at the beach sounds lovely. And glad you have the house how you want it. How old is DGD? Is she ready for potty training etc? I always recommend the same thing. I paid £20 for a beautifully soft cotton sheet which is highly absorbent. I brought mine from the nappy lady website. It has saved me so much effort on the washing front. You put it over the normal sheet and if they have an accident it means the bed is saved and you just wash that one sheet. Even with a boy where obviously the mechanics are different I have found he could be soaked beneath but the duvet bone dry thanks to the blanket. Worth a thought?
No plans at all for today. Have so far been as far as the kitchen to make coffee and heat up some pastries

Hi everyone
Well, I was off to a local car boot this morning, but after a drizzly start to the day, the heavens opened and we've had a downpour so not bothering as it could well have been cancelled anyway.
Maria - regarding your blackcurrant bushes - we've got some that are donkey's years old that we hardly ever pruned. 2 years ago my OH decided to give them a good prune, then moved them to a new site. They've taken on a new lease of life since then! It was probably the chop that did it, more than the move. Hope you enjoyed your afternoon out yesterday.
Bob - My mum once asked someone she knew when her baby was due, and was told that 'she's in the pram outside!' (It was safe to leave a pram outside a shop in those days). Exit a very embarrassed mum!
I can't believe that you have ripe blackberries - the ones around here are only just developing their fruits, although it seems to be a good year for them - must be the weather. I will be stocking the freezer with them, as well as wimberries and anything else I find. I've just been making enough elderflower cordial to last till next year.
Just decided on lunch - salmon & broccoli pie followed by a bread & butter pudding (except I use marmalade instead of the butter!) to use up some slightly stale bread.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
