How much did you pay for blinds for whole house?

We are moving to a new build property next month and are looking to buy blinds for the whole house (a mixture of verticals and rollers.) Just wondering what other people have paid as we are in the process of getting a few quotes at the moment and I just want to check these are reasonable (as I've never had to buy blinds before and have no clue!) The house is a 3 bed detached with quite a few floor length windows.

Many thanks!

I'd be budgeting at least 2k.

I've just moved into a new build and my kitchen blinds alone are £400.

Thanks for replying. That is a bit more than we were looking to pay. I had hoped we could do it for around the £1500 mark but we can afford to spend more if we have to. Moving is an expensive business!

My tiny 2 bed new build cost £420 for wooden horizontal blinds(includes discount of £30 for doing whole house). That was 18 months ago, they look lovely but bit of a pig to clean TBH.The kitchen ones are some kind of thin silver metal.

Thanks originator - we are avoiding horizontal blinds as the cat keeps getting stuck in our current ones. She's a nightmare!

it all depends on what you are after. to give an example someone mentioned they spend £400 on kitchen blind. we needed 2 blackout blinds for bedroom and i spent total of less than £100 for triple filtered one from internet and fitted myself. if you need someone to fit then allow a day/ day and half from a handyman. stating the obvious but remember that some types of blinds (e.g. roller blinds) on most occassions will be used at night when you may be sleeping so they are not very visible....

Its more sizes you need that dictates cost? Off the shelf 20-40 per window, same bespoke could cost 100 -250? Some would say you get what you pay for(blind makers and snobs). But often materials, running gear, fixing etc are all exactly the same the difference is they produce them in the 100s of thousands,,,

  • 2k for blinds? Absurd! We paid 2k for double glazed windows and doors on a 3 bed semi.
I would be looking at no more than £200 for blinds fully fitted...
