    Well, it was a bit of a 'when did you stop beating your wife' question.

    The OP never said that her friend contacted Asda.

    But if you had looked online and already discovered that the retailers were not concerned, it's quite likely that you wouldn't waste time covering old ground.

    I don't see that.
    If I had bought a table that spontaneously exploded, I would want some response from the retailer - regardless of what I'd read on FB.

    So would I, Pollycat, but in my experience so many people can't be bothered that I though, on balance (and because no mention was made of and contact), it was unlikely that OP's friend had.

    I wish more people would make the effort, as it is because so many people take the attitude: "oh, it's not worth the hassle, it was only £xx", that (some) retailers get away with selling shoddy goods and offering shoddy customer service.
    That's why I asked the following questions:

    And at least you asked if her friend had contacted Asda rather than starting off asking what they said at a contact that probably never took place. :)

    Then today, she saw a post on Mums Advice on Facebook and tables bought in Asda, Argos and Aldi have smashed into bits in warm weather. Obviously not fit for purpose. She shared the post.

    Nothing about the friend going into or contacting Asda directly to register a complaint.
    It's someone else's fault.

    Err no I wasn't aware that she hadn't contacted Asda as there was nothing in the op to say that she hadn't. I was giving the OP's friend the benefit of the doubt in doing the sensible thing.
    It's someone else's fault.

    1) The friend had contacted Asda and they weren't bothered (since the OP would hardly have said that none were bothered if her friend had got a result). In which case your question was redundant.

    2) She hadn't contacted Asda, in which case you question made no sense.

    refunded without a problem.

    There was no way of realising either 1) or 2) from the op as there was insufficient information. Many threads on this forum are started with limited information which then comes forth after questions are asked.
    It's someone else's fault.
