Lloyds-TSB paying in books

I use Lloyds to make payments to my reg savers which currently number 16. On the day before payment is due, I deposit cash to cover the payment. This does not present a problem as I need the exercise and the doctor has told me to get out more.
Over the last few months however, I have noticed that it is taking longer and longer to receive a preprinted paying in book. The last one took 5 weeks and 3 requests over the counter. As I get through at least 1 a month this is becoming inconvenient as I usually complete the following weeks deposit slips on a weekend. I notice that the deposit slips provided instore do not now have a receipt stub attached. It is possible to request a handwritten receipt but I have found that this is not a popular request athough necessary when depositing a high value cheque as I'm sure that we are all aware that mistakes do sometimes occur.
Has anyone else noticed this deterioration in service or to quote Wogan, "Is it me ?"

I think the 'system' is designed to generate a new paying-in book when there are 5(?) left in the old book.

Sounds like your best bet is to tear out the request slip as soon as you get each new book and drop it in over the counter. Though that's probably what you're doing......

Have you asked whether they have larger books, eg the type they send to for businesses?

Or have you thought of using online banking, which is what I do? You could always go for a walk later to please the doctor ;-)

Although we do have a paying in book for son's account, we can never find it when we need it.We used the bank paying in slips that don't have the receipt stub to pay in cash at the counter. We then ask for a print off the stmt so we can see that it has been applied.
I find Lloyds pretty bad with actioning requests for new books. However, on my business acct I used the text request service and got it really quickly.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • I think that the comment about a new paying in book being sent out automatically when there are 5 pages left is correct. Try playing around with the system - use the last 5 pages half way through. If a new book arrives then start using the earlier pages (they are still valid even if you have already used later pages).

My mum has a TSB account and getting a recipt is always a hassle with TSB and they keep telling me to bring her paying in book if I want to make a deposit for her and get a recipt. I find the following quoutes always seem to work:
"Hmmm poor service. Natwest give me recipts as standard without having to ask."
"I guess I should tell her to change banks then."
"She doesn't get much for paying extra for a gold account".
They always give you me recipt "just for that one time" :)
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

Not sure they'll issue them for personal accounts but a business paying in book is at least twice the size of a personal one, I have both :).

    Can always ask I suppose.

Never thought about asking about one of them business book thingys, I'll give that a try tomorrow. I always start at the back of my book and work forwards, every time that the teller asks me why I do it, I reply that I'm thinking about converting to Islam, most times it falls on stoney ground.
On todays visit I was asked if I'd had a review recently, I replied,"No, I haven't had a paying in book either".
This problem has only started for me since TNT took over the delivery system a few months back, may be a coincidence ?
I start on the stubless bank forms tomorrow.

That's probably why. The computer is probably set up only for forward usage.

Oh, and BTW I think that the business paying in book is alot more pages (simulare to a business cheque book, some times they have loads of pages)

The LTSB business paying in book is far bigger than personal, cheque book is exactly the same though. :)

Sorry but you will only get a new credit book if you send the request slip to the bank.
Only cheque books are monitored - as for business credit books they are big and unwieldy - why not simply write on the request that you want 2 personal books??
