Social housing after the budget

Weren't benefits capped at £20,000 outside London & £23,000 in London so this new legislation will only apply to working families?***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0

That was my understanding. This government said they would be for the workers but from what I see anyone with kids claiming tax credits and working will be worse off. But the devil is in the detail. If they dont faze in the extra rent there will be no point in some people close to the 30k trying to earn extra money.
And what about workers that normally earn less than 30k but due to overtime earn over it for one particular year, do they have to back pay all the extra rent because they estimated their earning to be lower than 30k?0 -
I'd imagine a few couples will tell the housing association that they've broken up and only have one name on the tenancy. Does anyone know if HAs have been successful in charging market rent for those earning more than £60,000? (Policy for the past 5 years)0

I am confused as to whether rents are going down or housing benefit payments are going down? Someone I was chatting to said they had a letter today saying housing benefit was being reduced by 1% each year?0

Social housing rents will go down 1% for 4 years from 2016. I wouldn't think anyone would receive any official letters regarding this now.0 -
You don't even need to lie to be better off, we already worked out we would be better off if I left and lived in a bedsit. Where's the sense in that?
I too would be interesting to know how they will check your earnings to charge you the correct price. And wont housing benefit end up picking up a lot of the cost?
Talking of housing benefit, as my income goes down due to tax credit reduction will the housing benefit go up? I always found that when my rent went up the housing benefit went up the same amount to cover it.0 -
Do households earning more than £30000 get housing benefit?0

it seems that your rent will increase to the same level as a same sized property that is privately rented in your area0 -

I think if the true rentable value of your house was £150 a week, that is what you would have to start paying.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0
