OK UKTigerlily I will make some assumptions about you which are probably right but could be wrong.
Most of your life you have overeaten so calories consumed > calories used. You have become overweight over a long period of time.
You have now become obsessed with your weight and at the moment calories used > calories consumed and you are now losing weight fast.
The problem is that most people who do this soon get bored, forget the diet and put the weight back on. They get upset and lose it again. YO-yo dieting.
You CAN lose weight by lying in bed eating all night and run ultramarathons during the day. I am trying to give people advice so they can change their life and remain at a good weight. Obesity rates are increasing rapidly caused by numerous factors. Constant snacking is something that people do now which was unheard of years ago.

Nope and nope. I have a Personal Trainer 3x a week who knows plenty about nutrition and exercise, he's a trainer to professionals also. I also do SW so eat plenty of normal foods and won't get bored as I eat exactly what I would once the weight is lost. Of course it will slow down now, that's to be expected, but it doesn't change the fact you can eat at 3am if you like. I also do other exercise without the PT and may increase to 4x a week Gym soon. Also, my Consultant said to have two snacks a day for blood sugars due to the illnesses that partly contributed to the gain. I used to be very fit and active before all of this and will be again!

I will make an assumption about you, you're an idiot.

Can you tell me how eating a portion of cottage cheese at 10pm tonight is going to be any worse for someone than eating it at 6pm?

Your logic seems to dictate that eating an entire pack of biscuits at 6pm is better than eating a slow release protein at 10pm.

For many people who have started working out that dose of slow release protein can be essential for fueling their body over night.

Now step off your high horse, and stop belittling people because their advice differs from yours.

  • I was 51 at the start of January my health was in a bad way high blood pressure , type 2 diabetic ( with blood sugars out of control even when on 2 lots of tablets ) my asthma was bad
I was VERY VERY over weight
On the 6 of January 4 days after my birthday I decided to get my life back
I joined myfittnesspal a free app and put it on my phone and on my iPad so I could always put my food and drink in it
I have 3 meals a day and a snack in the evening normally sugar free jelly and fruit or a yoghurt with fruit ( it's the only sweet thing I really have and it helped me to keep to diet)
I still have a long was to go but I have my blood pressure and blood sugars under control and my asthma is 100% better
I have not done exercise like most people would as it was messing with my blood sugars sending me too low ( one step away from going to hospital ) so what I do is walk the dogs, and gardening ( I have a 100ft garden a third of it is for veg and fruit ) and dance to music at home.
The good thing to all this is its all FREE
In 6 months I have lost 5 stone I still have a long was to go and I am slowly putting in exercise now ( I have an exercise bike at home so I can do small amounts at a time on it )

this is the most i've ever lost in 17 years of diets and I only once hit 50.5Ibs and have spent the last 7+ years trying to get there again.

I reckon I'm probably not too far off but I will keep quiet now! I know when my views aren't appreciated.

    Update:

I walked on the first day but hurt my ankle. I have also only had 2 bottles of wine over the weekends and nothing at all last night.

I attended the full physical today and my blood pressure is slightly high. My cholesterol, heart, lungs, liver, prostate, bloods and other samples all came back normal. I have something like 45% body fat which is causing pressure on my joints and increasing my chance of heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years from the normal 2% to around 10%.

I need some time to reflect on this but the immediate plan is to halve everything. Try to drink half the wine I do at the moment, then half the cheese and chocolate.

I am relieved that everything is working as it should. It is all up to me now.

Did the doctor you saw today give you any advice on your weight and tell you about any help available to you?
    Is your ankle injury serious?

To be honest, I think my ankle was just surprised to be used that much. It just aches a bit now the swelling has gone down.

It was the doctor who suggest suggested halving everything at first. He also advocates low impact exercise to start off with, such as cycling.

two bottles of wine...there's your problem. The calories in wine, mixed with excuses such as "I hurt my ankle". Suck it up and move on, stop drinking that much, start moving more. 45% body fat...how are you alive.

Amy, might be silly but don't forget to wear proper shoes! It makes a massive difference how you feel afterwards !

Also, wine can be indeed very calorific. I love it but I try to cut it down !
