I recently sold and posted 5 items on eBay. Not one of the items have arrived with the buyer. I just sent the items with a 1st class large letter stamp as it's what the post office staff member suggested.
I now not only owe eBay nearly £100 in refunds, have 'lost' the 5 items I sold, and paid postage for it to go nowhere!!
Post office has stated unless I paid for tracked I cannot claim. Surely I have some customer rights somewhere?!!
Someone please help!!:money:

If not, I cannot see how you can get any refund from Royal Mail.
Think about it... anyone could go to Royal Mail saying "I posted five letters and none of them arrived". Without anything to confirm something was actually posted, Royal Mail would be silly to pay out, wouldn't they?
If you do have proof of posting, follow the claim process here.0 -
I asked for proof of postage as always and the lady handed a reciept of the postage paid for - all large letter stamps but not split into individual postcodes as normal.
Post office have said I can only claim if I paid for tracked delivery but surely I have more rights?0 -

Did you read the link I supplied earlier?
The first paragraph is:The minimum information required to submit a claim
The names and addresses of the sender, addressee and claimant
The Royal Mail product used
The amount of postage paid and method of payment (e.g. stamps, Franking, Online Postage etc.)
Date and place of posting
The basis for asserting the posting details and product used – such as date of post mark, Certificate of Posting and for Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm, Royal Mail Signed For the product documentation
Description of the contents and packaging (for loss and damage)
Date the item was delivered (for part loss, damage and delay)
Were the five packages sent to five different addresses?0 -
Claim from royal mail. Post office are clearly morons0

Must surely be a breach of contract recourse, you have paid for a service, which hasn't been delivered- in both senses..
Or, maybe someone in the P/O is thieving?breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0 -

Forget the post office, any claim would be with Royal Mail as they are the people who handled the post.
If you have a look on the ebay board (see my signature) under the sticky threads there is one about postage that may help.
Standard mail- BUT with proof of postage has a claimable value of up to £20 , signed for up to £50.
However, 5 items sent on same day from same PO doesn't sound like a straightforward loss. Either they are sitting somewhere uncollected or u sorted or there is an error in the postage paid which means they are held up pending further payments. For a standard large letter the items would have to be under 100g and small enough to go through the guide in the post office, does that definitely apply to yours?
Lastly of course the addres labels may have been an issue, do you print or write your labels, were the stamps stuck on securely (they do not tend to stick to sellotape or the plastic postage bags).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. But they are the ones who are advising the OP that they can't claim. I don't think they were calling all PO workers morons.
They gave the correct advice though, the OP can't claim from the post office.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I find Royal Fail absolutely useless for anything more than letters. If I buy something off eBay and the seller uses Royal Mail I'll either pay for the more expensive 24 hour courier option or find a seller who uses another company all together if RM is the only option.
If I absolutely must use RM I make sure I use special delivery as it's the only one guaranteed to get there next day.
It may just be the area I live but RM service is shocking.
1st class often takes anywhere between 3-5 days (never next day).
2nd class isn't even worth bothering with, this is at least a week if at all (often goes "missing").
Parcels are more or less the same, I'd hate to think how many claims forms I've submitted to RM over the years.
