How awful!! But just remember though, the hateful jealous person that said the awful comment is probably banking on you dwelling on it, after all they said it to hurt you. Keep your chin up and enjoy the holiday they didn't win :D You deserve it . Congrats by the way! well done :T
You never learn anything by doing it right :p

Effort comps inspire the most hate it seems to me, because people tend to think that what they've said or done can't be topped. When it is, they are furious and it's safer for them to blame the winner than the company who chose the winner. Ignoring them and thanking wellwishers seems to be the best response - they know you've seen their comment, they know you're not engaging, and you're happily chatting with other people. It drives them nuts!

Disgusting behaviour and I'm really sorry that you were subjected to it. I hope you can forget about it and remember the huge amount of support you've had on here instead.

Have a really wonderful holiday! :)

Thanks for all the positive words and support....really means a lot. The Company deleted the offending post, but not before some good souls weighed in and said their piece. I definitely agree effort comps create the most problems. I got down to the final 20 for the FlightCentre Canada Comp...the winning entry was in a different stratosphere to mine ! Seeing as the person in question has their road name and postcode on FB, I could very easily send them a postcard from the holiday. Then again "Don't feed the Trolls" is far better advice !!
Thanks again...and sending positive winning vibes to my fellow MSE'rs.

That's the problem with the anonymity of the Internet. Unhinged people who you'd never normally come across suddenly have an outlet to be complete nutters! I once had a similar experience about 15 years ago. A chap I'd met was running a competition where you sent in your photo and people voted for you. He had a photo of me as we'd met up at a trade show, and he asked if he could put it up to get the ball rolling, to encourage more people to send theirs in and I said that was fine. However, there was a girl with her photo on and she seemed to have some sort of fan club going on. For some reason I was in the lead and her followers kept sending nasty remarks about how their girl was so much prettier than me and that people voting for me must be blind. I found it kind of funny as I hadn't even entered the comp in the first place. The site owner also got sent a nice but slightly creepy poem about me which he kindly forwarded on. It was a very strange carry on! However, I did end up winning the prize :)

Congrats on your win. Sorry that you were upset by such vile comments. Definitely a drawback to everyone having such easy access to comment on anything they like on the internet means that a few sad souls with little to no brains can type offensive comments whilst hiding behind their computer.
    Have a lovely holiday.
