Recommendations for loud pattern fabric

I assumed that Pennies meant it is a high window, and it is 5 metres wide.
I had exactly a similar situation 3 years ago - 6 metres wide, only modern room height.
This was what I did - and am still very happy with it:
I made plain curtains in a dupion silk from Whalleys fabric (they will send samples). I cut all the drops, then on to 4 of them, I appliqued Thai silk panels. I lined them with sun resistant lining from Merrick & Day.
I am not pretending this was cheap! But it was much, much cheaper than getting that amount of a "good" patterned curtain fabric.
I think it possible that the panels will wear out, and I can replace them as long as I am careful.
This post made me recall making some beautiful William Morris curtains 37 years ago. The fabric was a gift and I was over the moon with the beautiful curtains, and told everyone how well they would last. They did, and 33 years later I was very happy to see them go to a good home with a young couple. They were still in excellent condition, but I was fed up with them!
Pennies - you sound creative and I wonder if you could do something similar, with plain and patterned panels, that you could remake if you wanted?
Good luck, anyway, the window sounds like a challenge!0 -
This is whqat we had for our living room curtains last year - it looks 3-D and is pretty in your face

OOh! I like that. Maybe not in the purple but it's very effective."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

I design fabric patterns ;-)
But as self promotion isn't within forum rules, I might direct you to 'WovenMonkey', which has some bad designs, but also some very good ones too :-) it's a mixed bag, but if you're looking for something unique, either that or Etsy might be a good bet.

I love the idea of wovenmonkey - faintly tempted to have some curtains printed myself!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

OMG, what an amazing site, thank you. I found fabric I love for my utility room, much more than the remnant I was planning to use.
Um, that's not terribly Mse though, is it?It ties in a colour I want to paint a cupboard in their and the slubby colours of the walls.

The curtains in my living room are a pair that my Nan made with Sanderson fabric, and had in her house when I was growing up. I love the pattern, which is of fruits and leaves.
They must be at least 45/50 years old and still going strong.0 -
I bid on this print last week and won. Its very bright and the flowers are bigger than I realised. We are making curtains for our hallway. I recently painted a dresser plain grey and I just wanted something to give the hallway something to make it pop. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4m-Prestigious-Textiles-Ella-Orange-Floral-Designer-Curtain-Upholstery-Fabric/141711717979?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D333008%26algo%3DRIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29973%26meid%3Ddec2b2b5389a4b329f2b4b1718cad593%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D3113892974990
