Yes I wondered what happened with London kids - if they went to London unis or went to city uni elsewhere in the country
I suppose they then get itchy feet after uni and don't feel tied to London or their uni city and don't mind going to where their jobs are
One particular problem is that accommodation in London is very expensive, so families need to help out possibly more than elsewhere. If the family has a perfectly adequate home for student to live in, they are going to be encouraged to stay at home and study, not necessarily what every student wants and may involve a long commute.
Also some of the London universities are short of halls for first years and won't guarantee accommodation for anyone that lives within 20 miles of study, so there is the risk that they will have no option but to live at home or rent privately from day 1.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I finally managed to get through to my sister at lunch to ask about Mum and they are waiting for bloods ( suspected chest infection) so they may keep her in tonight. My sister will obviously run home as soon as she can and Ill be expected to go up tonight. They will probably only keep her in overnight so I am going to say I am busy and go tommorow. I do actually have c&c to collect this evening! I keep getting group messages from the older one and in one she said " thanks for being there". So I texted back a message to her only saying WHAT!!!. She then replied saying she felt guilty not being there and it was a good job we were. I felt like saying " Well why did you run back to Geneva as soon as you could?"
Think there is a good deal of guilt going on with those 2 but I have to say I dont have any such feelings. As to everyones suggestions as to care I tell you it will never happen unless Mum loses her marbles. She went into care for 10 days couple of years ago and I had to visit every day and she hated it. Thats why I plan to move so that decisions have to be made. Bit of a shame really as I have just got my garden nice and am gradually tidying it up inside. I am actually quite exhausted by it all
And thanks to everyone for thinking of me.0 -

I am taking a risk this afternoon washing one of my new £10 dresses and a new JL bikini I wore last week in the machine. I can't be bothered to hand wash them both like the labels say.
Life on the edge...... :rotfl:0 -

Now that was a risk DRY CLEAN ONLY. :rotfl: Glad they were ok.
Not sure if I would have put the dress in the machine if I had paid full price. It was real bargain 70% off so for £10 if it comes out slightly worse for wear I won't be too bothered.
Trouble is with arthritis in my hands I find wringing things out by hand pretty painful and with the heat we have been having my right hand/wrist is bit dodgy at the moment anyway.
