Their definition is very restrictive............... I like to think of the term as being much more loosely defined!

(I have to admit I am still in shock from reading what PD is on the UD).

See, she comes across as all sweet and innocent, but UD says otherwise, so it must be true :p

I have a mhoc style dilemma, and would welcome some opinions/advice?

My car insurance runs out at 00.01am on 27th July (Monday).

My 17 year old has his driving test at 10.24am on 27th July!

I go into hospital on 28th July for at least a week, followed by a minimum of 6 weeks not driving. Somewhere in that time (think its very early in September) MOT is due.

I am likely to need the car on monday to do last minute running about ready for going into hospital.

If DS passes, he thinks he wants to get insured on my car, but at some point in the next couple of months wants to buy his own car (or may possibly be bought one by grandparents for his 18th in November).

Even if he does pass, he goes away on National Citizen Service on 3rd August. First 2 weeks are residential, 3rd week is local but I have sorted lifts, so realistically, he wouldn't really be in a position to drive my car until week beginning 24th August, by which time I should be home (but not driving!) unless something terrible has gone wrong.

So many options, I don't know what to do. Try and extend insurance to last the Monday then declare as SORN and sort it out when I'm home and feeling a bit better?

Hold out til I know whether he has passed or not, then take out insurance then and there so I can drive about for the day, but that forces him to make a decision on the spot as to whether he wants to go on the insurance or not if he passes. That then leads to payment, paying up front is cheaper, but then if he was to get insured on my car, but in a couple of months gets his own, can I take him off mine and get a refund of remaining months?

My head hurts trying to decide! :o

I want to be able to get to grips with this problem can some one repost it later on Saturday - one glass of wine tonight and my brain is fizz, not used to strong drink now :)

I am usually good at figuring our car insurance dilemmas - it took 3 weeks to figure out our latest. It also took 4 phone calls, talking to various people until I got a result - saved our offspring about £300 so it was worth plugging away

It may be a case of writing out the various scenarios - pass the test or don't pass - taking onboard the pass rate was/is only about 50%

Just been over to check on the sheep and we have a new lamb:eek:

I asked my OH and he says what breed are they? Are you late lambing if was this a surprise addition?
Was it inside or still in the field?

My local always stamps my card yet the awkward ones in Inverness didn't .

Its a bit hit and miss if and when you get Nero stamps - same in Marks - all you can do is put your card on your tray, be polite and sweet to the assistant and hope :)
