Portugal is in the Schengen Area so technically a passport is not needed. but i would not travel without it.

    Forms of Identification

Even within the passport-free Schengen Area, it's a good idea to carry your passport or other nationally issued ID card. You don't need to show ID at the border, but you may be asked to prove your identity if stopped by the police, or if you are boarding a plane. For border crossings outside the Schengen Area – or for proving your identity within this area -- the only acceptable forms of ID are those issued by national authorities. Identification you may use within your home country – for example, a driving license, bank card or tax card – is unlikely to be accepted in another European country.

i know this dont help as you are obviously going by plane :o:rotfl:
just thought id throw it in the mix

I'm not so sure about that - I know you don't need to show your passport for border crossings where the Schengen Agreement operates but the UK isn't signed up to that and you need a passport to get back home.

Just yesterday we were held up for over an hour at Calais immigration queuing to get back in and I can't remember ever not being asked to show my passport at any port or airport in the UK.

When did we join the Schengen area?

I don't think we have joined.

Twas me looking for flamingo land tickets. I found a deal on forth fm radio station got a family ticket for £58.00. I'm happy with that as the next cheapest I could find was £100.00 and it was breaking my heart. Haha. Thank you for looking though

We loved camping at Flamingo Land when the kids were in their teens, there is the caravan area, but right at the back there are some fields that are usually empty.....idea for some peace, and after tea we go and see the animals and the kids get on the rides early, when the park is busy they go swimming (you only pay once to get into the park, and reasonable camping fees).

I'm always fascinated by how people manage to figure things out and use it to their benefit, it is all beyond me and I am in awe... ooh and I love a stash picture..... probably because I am always the too late in joining in. But not today.. which is amazing for me! :T:T:T:T

As we say it is a grey grey world, and we all draw our own lines in the sand that are dependent on our circumstances.... often these change as our circumstances change.
