Probably depends on what it would cost the State to prosecute on your behalf vs what you pay privately.
Look at it another way. If someone can afford to pay for private medical care does that mean they shouldn't be allowed to use the NHS (that they also pay for)?
All I'm going to say is that they live in Germany, why are they not getting legal aid from Germany. With monetrary means at that level, tax avoidance is likely to be used.
Legal aid is meant to be means tested. What criteria did this person meet in order to be awarded it?
I would be asking how likely it would be for the money to ever be retrieved and therefore repaid. If the con man has no money??????Avatar courtesey of HC :beer:0 -
