It is a year since that excellent T promo where they accepted APGs and a range of other vouchers.

Fond memories and I only managed a few due to going to Legoland and staying in Slough Travelodge :).

I can't think why they decided not to roll it out nationally ...

Is it really a year ago

Fond memories indeed - changed my life ;)

I've never spent so much time in Bristol, to be fair even though I hammered it I still kick myself for not doing more :rotfl:

I only had an finite number of packs from a one day shopping trip. They enjoyed it and the final result was one winner in every 5.7 packs. they did time test them right up until the end though :D

We were out for dinner last night because them 2 boys came home from school with reports that brought tears to my eyes :o they were absolutely brilliant. Worth every single bit of effort that's been given to them :)

Bet you are a very proud mum with those school reports. So pleased both boys are doing so well. Also impressed you could get ds2 to eat out in a public place or was it very well chosen by him:)

I agree wit WIRS comment that budgeting lesson need to be taught. Maybe should come under national curriculum. I have bang head on wall moments when talking to people about finances and they are paying full sky or virgin subscriptions. The kids don't need it. They need quality family time. Plus everything you could possibly want to to watch is free on the Internet somewhere.

I was very saddened to hear over 10 women were killed in crushes in India where as part of ramadam local manufacturers give clothes away. Dying in a crush for clothing is beyond belief. The women were all severely malnourished as well.

If schools could limit the personalised items of uniform to just a blazer and tie (like it was in my day) then barring these items surely uniform would be very cheap. After all a child needs a pair of shoes anyway (ok one pair only when I was growing up). Uniform is so much cheaper than when my kids went to school probably 60% less cost now supermarkets sell most things.

Very good to know that people are trying to get the message accross.

    FC nice to see you:)

    Joke borrowed from FB

The wife came home early and found her husband in their bedroom making Love to a very attractive young woman. And was somewhat upset.

‘You are a disrespectful pig!’ she cried. ‘How dare you do this to me –faithful wife, the mother of your children! I’m leaving you. I want a divorce!’

And the husband replied ‘Hang on just a minute love, so at least I can tell you what happened.’

“Fine, go ahead,” she sobbed, “but they’ll be the last words you’ll say to me!”

And the husband began — “Well, I was getting into the car to drive home and this young lady here asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out and defenseless that I took pity on her and let her into the car. I noticed that she was very thin, not well dressed and very dirty. She told me that she hadn’t eaten for three days! So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up the enchiladas I made for you last night, the ones you wouldn’t eat because you’re afraid you’ll put on weight. The poor thing devoured them in moments.

Since she needed a good clean up I suggested a shower, and while she was doing that I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes so I threw them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the designer jeans that you have had for a few years, but don’t use because you say they are too tight.

I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary present, which you don’t use because I don’t have good taste. I found the sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don’t use just to annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive boutique and don’t use because someone at work has a pair the same.”

The husband took a quick breath and continued – “She was so grateful for my understanding and help and as I walked her to the door she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said, ‘Please … do you have anything else that your wife doesn’t use?’”

I have an air pump that you can plug in to the car but the gauge doesn't work so never too sure how much is in :(.

No S garage nearby, even BP is cheaper at 50p.

What about blowing it up with your device, and checking it at the garage, then you can let them down a bit if they are over inflated. The garages usually allow you to check the pressure for free.
Or spoil yourself to one of these for 93p, 7p less than a price of a blow at the garage ;)

    On the subject of uniforms.....
I had an email a week or so ago that informed me the school uniform was totally changing. Whole new PE kit, new skirts for girls...tops, blazers, even ties. I was quite fuming as I've been buying bits and pieces through the year to spread the cost and I didn't have much new items to buy for next term.

It seems they might have had a lot of complaints and they have reneged on insisting everything is the new design for a grace period of a year. That's great but knowing the way kids are.......anyone with old kit will be a target for the kids that have new stuff :( so dilemma and thinking time for me. I know what I'd do but the chuckle brothers are different enough as it is :o and I'm no one to add to that.

I did have an amusing moment where i convinced them boys were going to have to wear kilts (they're changing to checked skirts for girls) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: their faces were priceless

Nice to see you too and nice to hear your art is spreading nicely through the country ;) lovely things should be shared :heart2:
  • I'm lucky DS school just asks for one logoed jumper (for school photos) but that's not compulsory either.

I have been utterly haunted by the story today about the woman who died in the car in Scotland after being there for 3 days :( just how could that happen?

    It beggars belief.

That's twice in 2 days I've read of catastrophic things happening because someone didn't enter the required data into a computer :(

The other instance was the girl near me.....15 years old who was wrongly logged as a 45 year old woman when she was reported missing instead of a 15 year old vulnerable child :( A man was convicted of her murder this week even though her body has never been found.

I like technology a lot. But it can be catastrophic if it goes wrong when depended upon

    Good evening all.

I like school uniforms, overall I think they work out good value. There is no way I could kit my 3 out if they were wearing their own clothes, I could just imagine the pressure to have the latest labels. School uniforms are levellers, children look the same and generally uniforms are all bought from the same retailers. I'm not saying that schools couldn't consider cheaper options but pound for pound through the year I think they are better value than non-uniforms would be.
