Rusty found the treats
Fantastic Picture, Cheery. Right place at the right time eh?.
Aww, bless her with her bad foot and OUCH to spending £81 on vet visit and meds. But, great they are making a difference and you have more antiinflammatory meds to give her if needed.

To be honest it wasn't difficult - she was there for a long time
in fact I caught Bonnie (who seems to be taking after Rusty in peskiness) doing exactly the same thing a few minutes later

Hi Everyone
Sorry I have been missing quite a bit of late but happy to say I am now much better health-wise following 8 lots of antibiotics, yes 8 lots. It's been a bit of a difficult long road with it all but so happy that I feel much more like myself and will be posting like I used to.
Hen and Hoppy wise all has been going well except for the loss of one of my hens. Bless them they age so quickly after having had difficult starts in their little lives. I am always sad when I lose one of my girls like I know we all are on here but I know we all give them the best when they retire from being in those awful cages.
Hoppy is plodding on, bless her. We put her in the pond at 8am this morning and she didn't get out until just after 10.30am. I know she loves a good old swim and a wash but 2.5 hours is a long time for her to be swimming about. Guess she must have just felt like having a long swim and an extra wash today. Normally she would spend around an hour or so in the pond and on warm days we will put her in there a couple of times during the day. She will never go in of her own accord but will happily climb out when she has finished that's why we put her in ourselves, bless her.
Definitely getting darker in the evenings now as noticing they are being locked up earlier and earlier. We do try and get them out earlier in the Autumn/Winter months to make up for the shorter daylight hours but not too early that we can not keep an eye on them.
How is everyone else and their feathered friends? All going ok I hope 😀

Hi everyone
All good here with my girls and little Hoppy. The weather was so awful here today that we decided to keep them in the coop where they are totally undercover. We were so pleased that we did because by mid-morning the heavens opened and it just chucked it down and didn't stop for the best part of the day except for a very short while during the afternoon. They had plenty to keep them amused and loads of tiny pieces of treats to keep them occupied. Hens never stop eating unless they are dustbathing or sunbathing, honest that's true 😁 I am sure others on here will back me up on that 😁
Cheery, how is your little hen's foot now? I do hope it has made a full recovery 🥰
Take care everyone

Morning,
Yes sometimes leaving them in the run is the sensible thing isn't it? Sometimes I relent and let them out in bad weather if they're complaining, but they usually just come and stand in our porch, which is barely big enough for six chickens and has no perch or anythingthey know they can tell and treats will probably appear though...
Mr Cheery built a garden shelter (for us to have visitors during lockdown) and the chickens spend more time in it than we do at the minute
And yes, they'll definitely eat all day given the chance!3 -
Oh, and Rusty's foot seems ok, she still seems to limp a little occasionally when it's cold
I did give her a spot more of the medicine the other day. Maybe she's just getting like an old lady with her aches and pains
