Kent here and I can honestly more people dont know/fail to act on the ban than adhere to it on my travels/conversations....

That is such a shame and very irresponsible of poultry keepers. All you can do is make sure yours are absolutely fully porotected. Any holes that appear anywhere just patch them up and really thats all you can do.

It is so wrong that there is us on this forum doing our best by doing all we have done to then hear/see others in our community not bothering maybe just thinking oh our girls won't get it as ours are in our back garden and we don't get wild birds visiting. Well they are wrong because it is mainly from the wild bird poo landing in their gardens and all wild birds fly over everyones gardens and poo as they fly.

Talking of which my hubby and I went out to post a letter the other day and on the way back a Seagull pooped on his shoulder. We are no where near the sea but they do say that if there is a storm at sea the Seagulls come in land. I have heard that that it is lucky if a bird poops on you :D has anyone else ever heard that???

Chin up CAFCGirl you have done all you can. Pat on the back to you & a very very

Was going to post a photo of my girls having a dust bath this morning. I do not get on with Photo Bucket for putting photos on this forum so I have been given the names of some other photo hosting sites to try. This morning I have tried Photo Image and thought I was getting there but only managed to post the link but I want to post the photo not the link. How very annoying. I'll just keep on trying cos maybe I am rushing it.

How is everyone? Hope all yours girls are ok. Not long now and we can take the covers off the coops, well hopefully and fingers crossed we can. I have been checking and haven't heard anything since the last announcement. Please post if you hear anything.

Try tinypic. It's the "img" code you need to copy over :)

My girls had their first dust bath for about 3 months yesterday :rotfl:

Thank you for those details Dizzy Ditzy much appreciated. I'll have a look at it now.

Bet your girls loved their dust bath. Did you make them something to dust bathe in? We made a dust bathing thingy for ours out of an old wooden crate lined with tarpaulin and they love it. Hopefully be able to get some pictures of it on here soon.

    Thanks again for your suggestion.

They created their own dustbath and yesterday I put a bag of dried out compost in there. They were in there before I'd finished emptying the bag :rotfl:

I think perhaps the tale of being pooped on being lucky is just an attempt to make people feel better about being cr****d on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Dust baths, not sure mine entirely 'get it'. I put a container in with wood ash, DE and some compost, and they would walk through it but noone was bathing in it. Yet they've dug down a space in their run in just the dirt which seems like it might have been their attempt at it?

    Hi everyone

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-38907726

Sadly the Avian Flu is still spreading. It had all gone quiet for a while so I was beginning to be hopeful that the ban would be lifted on the 28th of this month. Not going to look that way now but I am sure we will all keep our fingers crossed that it will be. :(

Hope everyone and their feathered friends are ok. My hens a fighting a little despite changing their coop around, adding water bottles full of dried corn with holes in that they can roll around and also hanging up greens, sweetcorn, leeks, broccoli and cauliflower. The ducks are looking thoroughly miserable and a couple of them are not eating much. My husband dug out the ground to fit a shallow container with water in so they can have a splash about and a wash but only a couple of them will use it. The ducks are in their run which is 20ft x 4ft so plenty of room for 7 of them but I think they miss their pond more than anything. They have not started laying this year yet but we are getting around 8 hens eggs a day. I so wish I could let them all out to run about in their garden. :(

Hi everyone this is worth having a read of.

As far as I can see no areas have been mention yet. The map itself looks coated in brown for being the more affected areas.
