Hi all,
My clumsy daughter has dropped and smashed her iPhone 6, as I live in the sticks and I'm rubbish with technology and DIY I have been looking to send it away to one of these online repair companies. I have found a few good lookings ones like fone angels, ismash and quick mobile fix but not sure if they can be trusted and would like to know if anyone else has used them and if they have any feedback before sending it off?
Thank you in advance

Beware that if you fix it outwith Apple, then the warranty on the phone will be voided. It may be worth taking it to an Apple store for a quote.

I did think that but my local apple store is quite far and I don't drive and these companies do have some good reviews, but maybe your right, thanks for the advise!19lottie82 wrote: »Beware that if you fix it outwith Apple, then the warranty on the phone will be voided. Contact Apple and arrange for it to be returned to an Apple repair centre. There was a recent post on here where an iPhone with a broken screen was wrecked by a high street repair shop...

Apples mail in service while not cheap is quite good.
You mail the phone in and as soon as they get it they mail you a replacement, they don't repair yours it goes to a repair centre, gets wiped, fixed and refurbed and got to another person.
You'll be 3 or 4 days without a phone, If you were to do it by an Apple store, (and you have to book aa genius slot in advance) its a walk in /walk out service.
Many reports are the replacement refurbished phones often look like new.0 -
I would think very carefully before using the above company. Dig below the suspiciously glowing Trust Pilot reviews on the net and you will quickly find a lot of very upset past customers. Sadly for me I only did this after I had sent them my Ipad. It was an absolute nightmare and I would now only consider a local shop for any future repairs0

Avoid Fone Angels they are a bunch of crooks. I paid for a screen repair and sent off my phone at the beginning of september. They immediately said that they had found an additional fault (the proximity sensor) and wanted an additional £35. By then I had read some reviews and realised that adding extra work was a common ploy by Fone Angels so I declined the additional repair.
They insisted and reduced the price and I still declined. They then said they would return the phone at an additional cost to me or they would fix it but they couldn't say when. They've now had my phone 2.5 months!
Fone Angels are a joke. Avoid them. Read what others say at http://www.yelp.co.uk/not_recommended_reviews/fone-angels-rickmansworth?not_recommended_start=0

I wish I had!
What I don't understand is how, with so many unhappy customers, there is nothing about Fone Angels on this forum. Time was when moneysavingexpert was independent - I now wonder.0 -
Your going to send your expensive phone to some unknown person who maybe legit or not?
Risks or it getting lost on the way there and the way back and the niggle that will have you wondering if they just collect as many phones as they can and then start another website the next day and your goods are gone.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Although this is an old thread, the best repair websites are eBay for the tools and parts, and iFixit or YouTube for the instructions. You don't need to be good with DIY - with research and a steady hand anyone can replace a screen / battery / more. No de-soldering SMDs or anything, just the right Torx or Pentalobe bits required.
It's not hard like plumbing in a new toilet or replacing the thermocouple on your back boiler...0
