Hi all,
Any advice would be great, thanks.
Keeping it as short as possible....
Went on a cruise in October 2009 for our Honeymoon with Thomson. Thomson flights and Thomson cruise ship. Thomson Travel Agent too.
Flight set off from Manchester, returned shortly due to fault. Tried again a bit later, returned again (after 2 hours) due to fault. Put up in a hotel (without food vouchers) until next day and set off again having now missed the first night on the ship and the start of the holiday at Corfu. We landed at the Ship's next destination which was Athens. Put up in a hotel again (another night missed on the ship) but this time with food. Eventually they took us to the ship and the holiday continued as it should.
I've complained to Thomson and they requested all manner of things like boarding cards etc. to make it diffcult. Who keeps them!?
I then complained to the CAA and they took it on for me. It's now been over three years with the CAA and they kept me informed that they are waiting for another hearing with Jet2 to see how that goes and I'll hear from them shortly etc. The hearing said that the delay being caused by a fault means they have to pay. Thomson told me by letter they didn't have to pay. Confused. Wrote to CAA again.
Now as it is coming up to 6 years I have had an email from CAA saying I cannot make a claim after 6 years and they are ending my case before it gets to that so I can do my own thing. Really confused. Whats's the point of them!?
At the end of the day I was delayed by over 24 hours, missed two nights on the ship (with food included) and this was our honeymoon (I know that doesn't matter).
Anything I can do?
Thanks in advance

This forum is now inhabited only by those who have taken on/ are taking on the airlines. First, well done for sticking to your guns and using the CAA. As you have painfully found out, they can be pretty useless. Are you snookered? Indeed not.
First, make a big pot of coffee and read, and inwardly digest, Vauban's guide and the many posts. Pay most attention to the 'Thomson's' section (which is where you should enter future posts as it keeps the place tidy). After you have spent a couple of hours doing this, you will almost certainly conclude that (a) you have a good case and (b) you need to light a fire under Thomsons by sending them a 'Notice Before Action' letter. Do this.
A lot of airlines including Thomsons are now folding at this point, but if they don't then either use a nwnf lawyer or Money Claim Online. Make sure you do this before the 6 year limit.

Just to reinforce - any legal action ie submitting a small claims court N1 MUST be done before the 6th year anniversary of your delayed flight. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
