Europcar - Help - Please Do Not Use
Dear All,
I hope someone can help. I hired a car from Europcar in January and returned the vehicle on the 18th June. Every 27 days the lease was extended so that I can have unlimited mileage. Ive had to chase the depot to take payment each month and extend I have asked them on numerous occasions do they want me to bring the vehicle in so they can inspect and log mileage to be advised "no its fine don't worry about it" The last months rental I had to extend by 1 week as I was going away and could not get the time to take the car back. I handed the keys in on the 18th June and was advised that all invoices were up to date and all was ok the car was in perfect condition.
However I have just received a invoice for in excess of £500.00 for excess mileage. I haven't given anyone at Europcar the mileage, in total I was allowed 30,000 miles well just over and the car went back with 15,000 miles.
Now I cannot log on to my account to review the invoices, and have been advised there is a technical error.
I have also received Traffic Charges from Dart due to an error on there side and have not allocated my car to the payments. Dart advised that the charges are for £2.50 however the invoice is for £37.50 plus the £36.00 admin fee. How and why do they think they can get away with this.
Im at my wits end and I do not know how I can get them to listen to me. Ive done everything they asked of myself and they ignore my complaint.
Emma

Quid pro quo...ignore them.

Do you have an emailed version of your invoice? If not, ring them and just tell them you can't log into your online account. Once you've gained access, look at the invoices and then progress. I'm assuming the mileage will be noted on those?0

You say "unlimited mileage", then you say "allowed 30,000 miles". But there's a difference between having a rental car for that mileage under that contract and having that rental car for that mileage under that contract.
I suspect the charge has come because they normally de-fleet cars at 12k or thereabouts, and you may well also have passed a service interval. Their longer-term rental paperwork probably covers that scenario - does it?0 -
Don't they usually have a sticker on the dash stating do not exceed xxxx miles or charges will apply.0
