It definitely happens with Chrome and I can also get it with IE11 :-

It just seems to depend on your method for creating links and what you copy/paste.

This isn't a new problem - weeowens has suffered for months.

I was just pasting the links straight in, yes. Not using the link button.

Interesting that it does it in IE with the createlink.gif but not pasted straight in, unlike Firefox which seems to do it with both.

Maybe it's longer than I thought since I tried a link in that format without the http:// ?

I am in the habit of doing full urls when I copy/paste anywhere.

Also seems browser dependant. See other thread. Does it for me on Firefox, but not IE11. Allegedly also does it with Chrome.

Used to be fine for me on Firefox, so it must be somewhat recent, if not this week.

For me, it (and many other niggly problems) have occurred only since MSE Towers started doing the 'Spam' fixes.
Don't misunderstand me ... I had lots of niggles with this site before then, but I was used to them, and had got my workarounds.
But this fix/these fixes has/have introduced lots of new issues, probably related to a number of things that aren't done 'tidily' in the software. Some of them seem to be OK the first time, but not thereafter ... or vice versa.
