HSBC Advance - £25 cash back on new credit card

Options
I was in HSBC yesterday and was offered a new deal for Advance account holders. If you open a credit card and make any purchase or a balance transfer within 60 days, they will credit your Advance current account with £25. I was assured there is no minimum on the purchase so it can just be a bar of chocolate or something.

No annual fee and there is also 3 months 0% on purchases and 34 months 0% on balance transfers, so not a bad deal.

I'll just take your word for it and I haven't checked it. £25 quid incentive and 3 months 0% purchases is a bit measly these days but the 34 months BT isn't too bad. But if you like it go for it.

I have no use for the BT deal or even the purchases, but I'll certainly take £25 free money for a single small transaction! I may or may not cancel the card once I've had the incentive. Those with good enough credit ratings to easily pick up another card, use it then get rid of it may be interested.

agree the £25 is measly, but if you as you're already banking with HSBC then it ought to be straightforward.
i find their limits to be quite tight though, so the BT would be less useful, and the 3 months IFP is hardly worth bothering with..and i wonder if there is a Premier equivalent:think:

    From T&Cs

e)the purchase can be of any value and the minimum balance
    transfer amount is £100.

...indeed it does planteria which was the point of post i.e. refer to the t&cs rather than an assurance from a member of staff.....

It also adds the fact that there is a minimum balance transfer (which gc doesnt mention).

    A quick Google reveals:
The offer is only open to existing HSBC Advance customers and is available until 7th August

Yes, I have. Opened the card in early July per my original post on this thread, made a small purchase on 20 July and received the £25 into my Advance account on 12 August. I then transferred some of it over to pay off the credit card.
