Hi All,

I've been researching a new laptop for a while and I've looked at a few second hand laptops, however I've went a little cold on the idea now.

My budget is around £300 to £400. I want something that is capable of utilising MS Office, online usage and watching movies from time to time.

What do people suggest and where can they be purchased?

Usage? Eg. mostly at home/work, on the move, travelling the world?

If work, the type of environment, eg. office or building site?

Availability of mains power, hence battery life desirability?

There are many variables, which could affect choice.

Lenovo i3, 5th generation i3 processor, same one as above but lower processor so a bit cheaper.

A bit cheaper Lenovo Thinkpad E555 at saveonlaptops. For some reason it won't let me post the saveonlaptops link properly.

Mainly home, maybe a little bit of travel, generally power supplies are available but not always.

Currently have a Samsung NP-R540-JA05UK any upgrade on this would be ideal.

    Damaged beyond use or repair.
  • Consider buying from John Lewis or Costco. The former gives a 2 year warranty as standard, the latter too but they also give 90 days of return-for-any-reason in case it's not the machine for you. Anyone can buy from JL, but you need to be a member or have a friend who's a member at Costco.
