The letter basically says if you'd like to keep your accounts it's crucial we get the info from you ASAP. If you no longer need the accounts then call us and we will close them for you.
That tone hints at used, or rarely used, accounts. Was that the situation?0 -
No, it's my main account which my wage goes into and DD's come out of. I'll try and scan the generic letter in.That tone hints at used, or rarely used, accounts. Was that the situation?Outstanding Debt at 01/01/2020

Hope this works...
Yep it works fine, thank you for providing it.
Well as I said earlier we havent seen the words of the guys letter but would pretty much guess it was as above.
Which all sounds pretty reasonable, at most a tad annoying for the faffing about but I would imagine all institutions are trying to capture all missing data.
Cheers

Except the fees that you are supposed to pay to a solicitor. That said, I don't know what they say in the "list of suitable professions"....

As said above, FD are pretty much unique in terms of certification: Passport certification for First Directat most a tad annoying for the faffing about but I would imagine all institutions are trying to capture all missing data.0 -
I hope I don't get one of those letters as I rather like my FD account, but not enough to go through the hassle and expense of getting documents certified, especially with the possibility that they might be rejected for nit-picky reasons. I don't think it is reasonable at all not to accept originals.0

They are accepted, according to what an FD employee posted earlier. Apparently you can just pop into an HSBC branch with them - similar sort of thing other banks might ask you to do.I don't think it is reasonable at all not to accept originals.
I understand that they don't want people to send originals - - and I wouldn't send my passport off to anyone, either.0 -
skinnylove, thanks for posting page 1 of the letter. Can you post the remainder, too, please?0

Page 2 should show under page 1 but try this link if you can't see it.Archi_Bald wrote: »skinnylove, thanks for posting page 1 of the letter. Can you post the remainder, too, please?

Edit: the other two pages which listed who could certify documents and what ID was required formed part of the reply so I no longer have these. Also, I had recently applied for a loan which I'm assuming triggered the need to get my ID after 5 years.Outstanding Debt at 01/01/2020

Maybe I can't see the wood for the trees, but I can't see that post. However, I did read in the thread posted by grumbler that taking them into an HSBC branch was not an option a couple of years ago, but perhaps things have changed?Archi_Bald wrote: »They are accepted, according to what an FD employee posted earlier. Neither would I, but I'd be happy to bring it in to an HSBC branch and I'd be happy to post other original documents - Nationwide just wanted a bank statement and utility bill from me earlier this year.I understand that they don't want people to send originals - - and I wouldn't send my passport off to anyone, either.0
