What's the best online banking if I don't have a mobile?

Santander insist on an 07-number for their OTP - at least they did a few months ago when I tried to replace my mobile number with my landline one, just to try out whether it would work.0 -

If you don't agree that there is ApplePay hysteria I have to ask what planet you're on. It's announced almost everywhere with a fanfare as if to say that everyone has a compatible Apple device.
What about Masterpass which has been around for longer and is far more mature. Then there is Paypal mobile payments which never really got off the ground. That's to name but two which work on most devices and are not confined to only one device brand as is Apple Pay.
If anyone wants to buy Apple so they can use Apple Pay then fair enough but they should recognise that Apple Pay is Apple marketing at its most shameless!
To be fair, I've heard more from Apple about who will be involved in Apple Pay than I have from any of the banks. The banks made a much bigger deal about PayM when that was launched, which is not something of interest to me at all.
As an existing Apple user though, I'm quite looking forward to Apple Pay. I can't see many people moving to Apple for the benefit, just as many people didn't move to Barclays when they did something with a NFC sticker to stick to the bank of your phone for contactless payments.
Re Masterpass and Paypal, the most successful scheme will always be the one with the most marketing and widest participation. I only know of Greggs as a location where I can pay with Paypal, and Masterpass is online only, so of little use to me as my MacBook remembers most of my card details anyway without the use of a third party payment handler.
I'm really not sure as to why you would wait for this to subside before choosing a bank though. Did you wait for PayM to die down too before settling where you are at the minute?0 -

To the OP, if you have a Santander branch nearby another option is to get the branch staff to set up your payees, then you can make payments online (a mobile is not needed to make a payment once the payee has been set up). I did that for a while and it worked fine.0
