gaffel thanks for the round of applause. I really thought AIB were going to hold off applying the OP until they had charged their quarterly interest. I had to ring them and have a little word. They are really scandalous to be honestMFW Target Jan 2016 Sub €100k

Brought my DD and her little friend to a soft play place today and then for a mcdonalds. €30 gone. I will defo add school holiday spending money to my budget.
Spent €20 on Tuesday going to visit a castle and gardens.
All my family are heading away for a few nights next week. It would be €230 B&B for 3 nights for my DD and I. It would definitely take a tank of Diesel to get there and back. Then I'd need spenders on top of that. So I've said no. To be honest I don't feel great so glad to stay close to home but it's just the feeling of missing out. . . .
It's just €230 would cover a good few days out for us. All the rest of my family have had foreign holidays this year too. This is just a little add on break. Then they are all going to my nieces Hen weekend in September too. When we went for the spa break they all stayed two nights but me only one night.
It's kind of hard sometimes to stay on this road. Everyone else seems to spend with abandon.:(
We are going to a pet farm tomorrow but that's only €10 for my DD and we are bringing a picnic.
My DP is away sailing this weekend (I'm a yachting widow if anyone can empathise) so we are going to go stay with my sister. She only lives 5 miles away but it will be a bit of craic anyway. Her and I might get a take away tomorrow night. Something I never ever do because my DP doesn't like take away of any description.
7 weeks to due date . . . . . :T:T:T

WOW! I'm so impressed with your overpayments - way to go!! I often wonder as well about my friends and family who spend with abandon while I'm trying to squirrel away all the money I can.
I'm 31 weeks pregnant, but in the US where the maternity laws are excruciatingly bad. With my son I got 65% pay for 6 weeks and then no pay until I went back to work at 12 weeks! This time round is even worse, I actually have to leave my job the day before baby is due so I'll get NO maternity pay at all. Stupid VISA.
Anyway, I'm going to subscribe and follow your story (if I can figure out the subscription thing, I'm new to this!)Deposit Fund = 9754/20,000OP Fund (2016) = 250/7000 -

Not much to report here except 2 NSD's which is pretty good considering it's a bank holiday weekend here. Truth is I just haven't the energy for going or doing anything.
I made a maahooooosive chicken/veg/lentils curry in slow cooker and cooked a stack of rice in my other slow cooker. So have stashed away 10 curry and rice individual portions in freezer and we had it for dinner tonight too.
There was a time when I would put 10 chick fillets in my massive curry. Now I just use 4 and bulk out with chunky veg, chick peas and those cheapo salad potatoes.
This is also partly due to the fact we are trying to reduce meat consumption.
We had roast beef with trimmings at my Mammys today. So a bit of meat over consumption rather than the opposite!!!
We'll make up for it with a veggie stir Fry tomorrow. Actually the way I'm feeling we could be having corn flakes for dinner tomorrow :rotfl:
My sailor boy will be home tomorrow, no doubt a little worse for wear after too much  in Cork Sailing club. Well I have a long list of things for him to do including a visit to the attic (his nemesis) Well he's always telling me the way to deal with a hangover is to push through it :j

It's a bit of a spendy week. it's so hard to keep costs down during school holidays. Especially when the weather is so bad. We've been spending an average of €14 p/d this week on entertainments.
I'm very immobile so can't really do the park/picnic thing.
MFW wins:
1.I sold a pair of DD shoes on Adverts and got €12
2. I found 35 swiss francs in a drawer and got €27
3. I got a rebate of €26 on tax for 2014
MFW losses
1. €140 for my cats to have annual vaccine :eek:Never budgeted for this - lesson learned
2.€2646 tax bill for rental income in 2013 (may be able to lessen this though)
3. DD needs dentist check up - nothing in budget for this or indeed any medical stuff (again lesson learned)
4. Budgeted €400 over 12 months for car insurance as it's been less than that every year for about 4 years. This year best I could do was €472. Premiums up by 15 - 20% for no apparent reason:mad:
Really looking forward to school returning now. i just don't have the energy at 33 weeks pregnant for anything. I'm not sleeping and being money savvy is not where my head is at right now. DD was picking out a new pencil case today and I could feel a lump in my throat as she doddered over her decision. Seriously I need to get a grip.
Oh did I mention I'm now on crutches
I'm a migraine sufferer so i don't really drink alcohol but I find myself thinking about [STRIKE]drooling [/STRIKE]a glass of red wine. Not a very good mummy am I :rotfl:

The weather has been dire and mini gaffels have been on summer camps for the last few weeks, so very spendy for us as well. Sailing club for 2 weeks in a row, then lego club in dublin (with mys sister). Think sailing this coming week as well, though the minis are debating it. Next week is school uniform buying
CrutchesI was lucky enough with each of my 4 pregnancies, though nearly rented out a crane at the end of each to get me out the bed

Well it's coming up to the end of the month and it's not been a great month. I did my best but being having limited mobility and a bored child don't make for thriftiness.
I also had a few things go wrong at my rented apartment.
So I'm still hoping to save €1300 towards an OP this month. That's 10 bricks more of my apartment that belong to me and not to the bank. Interest rates fell by another 0.25% this month coming into effect on October 1st. I'll then be paying 3.45%. That's 1% lower than this time last year.
I've been perusing the mortgage neutral threads. It might be an option for me as i get 70% rebate on my interest when I make my rental income declaration every year. I really need to sit down and do the maths.
Either way the scrimping continues.
4-6 weeks of pregnancy left. I'm off the crutches as i went to a chiropractor (really scary) and he had me popped back straight in half an hour.
Gaffel Sailing camp must cost a bomb. As I mentioned in previous posts my OH is a competitive yacht racer. It's so expensive. He wants my DD to start next year. although she's been out on squibs and lasers with him loads.
What's Lego club??? Sounds cool.
I've discovered that talking to my OH about money over IM really works. It's mad. He obviously doesn't feel as controlled or something. We were just discussing how expensive July and aug have been. But to his credit he has stashed away €4000 for when I'm on unpaid Mat leave. he's a "goodin" really. Despite his expensive tastes and the many, many regattas he's been swilling prosecco at this summer!!!!! (I'm just jealous - I quiet like the Regatta social scene myself)
My DD dad asked me for a loan of money and also informed me that he won't be paying child maintenance for a few months due to some financial difficulty or other. Tis a good job I stopped counting on that money a long time ago. He's a total lemon!
His partner is an Oncologist and he is very senior in a software company. he has an MBA etc. But can't help support his one and only child. It used to hurt me so much. But now it's great I can just laugh it off. There are so many fur coat and no knickers people - way more than I think some of us could fathom.

The sailing camp was €130 a week per mini so not too bad. They loved it and boy did they sleep each night!
Oooh you are on the home run now! Hopefully you won't go too long over and great job by the chiropracter. I must admit I was lucky in all pregnancies and never suffered much! My eldest dad is useless, never once paid a single penny towards his son.

What's your official due date Nancy? Mine is October 1st but I'm really hoping she will come a little early! We cleaned out the infant car seat yesterday. Felt really guilty when we took it out of the cupboard and it was filthy, but it cleaned up really well. That was certainly one expense we didn't want to have again. I bought tons of nappies that were on offer last week too. It worked out about $100 (!!!) but I got $30 in gift cards that I can use in that store so I thought it was worth stocking up. Plus, it won't be long before they are all used up.
Does your ex not have an obligation to contribute to your DD every month? That seems crazy that he can get away with no paying anything.Deposit Fund = 9754/20,000OP Fund (2016) = 250/7000
