I am all Disneyed out by this current sale and everything is turning into a blur! I am planning our first Disney trip and seem to have spent an entire day looking up different options, so could really do with some advice from you MSE experts.

I would be grateful for some advice regarding the best hotel, which website/agent to book through to get the best deal and the best way to travel. Also, is the half board meal option worth doing?

Here's our requirements: 2 adults, two children (aged 4 and 6), we live in Birmingham, we are very restricted on holiday dates (due to my work) either 17th-21st August or October half term. Budget : £700-£800 (is that realistic?)

Many, many thanks for all your help in advance.

forget about the current sale, for your dates in August there is absolutely nothing I can see with any kind of discount, and October isn't included in the sale.

If no decent discount appears for October half term, you could look at pricing up offsite (loads of hotels around Disneyland Paris - just have a search on Expedia, travelrepublic, alpharooms etc) getting park tickets/annual passes (check out DLRPMagic for great information regarding annual passes) and sourcing your own transport options (don't forget about driving, this can be a great value option for a family of 4). This would at least let you see how realistic your budget is.

She doesn't have any costumes yet, that will be more fun to sort out before then!

Keep an eye out in Asda & Tesco for costumes, I got DD aged 11 a Sleeping Beauty dress in Tesco a few weeks ago and they had 25% off all costumes...cost me £9

Saw families in disney buying dresses for £50+

My daughter asked everyone for money for her birthday as she wanted to get a special dress out there - and her dress cost a whopping 99 Euros. I was too scared to let her play with it for months but then figured it was hers, bought with her money I might as well. It is the best outfit she has, is very durable and still fits her 4 years on because of the cut of it and not a single, nick, cut or tear and it has well outworn the cheap dresses and the material is lovely and it puffs out out like a 'real Disney princess' dress would when she twirls as it has elastic down the skirt from waist to hem (hard to explain). I did not want her to spend all that money but it is a beautiful, beautiful dress. You simply cannot get them like that in places like Tesco and she'll still get a few ££ for it on eBay when she sells it.

on the flip side of that blue_monkey, I've bought all of my daughter's Disney costumes from ebay (some new, some pre-loved), over the years, never paid more than £24, sometimes a lot less, and I've re-sold every one of them (the last one was even sold at a profit - Jasmine when the Disney store had stopped selling her costume) when she outgrew them. None had been ruined or even torn.

Ah I would love to have gotten her a dress in Disney but was (still am) on a very tight budget :o

Me and DD had a chat last month and decided how much pocket money for chores she gets and decided all her money goes into a piggybank tin that can only be opened with a tin opener...she said shes gonna spend spend spend it at Disney if I can save again for next year...her last year as under 12 :(

im thinking of taking my 2 girls 10 and 12 to DLP in august, we are attending a wedding on sat 26th and sun 27th of august in France, so i was hoping to go to DLP as its only 30m from the wedding location.

Im considering 4 days as 247 tickets, they sell 4 days for the price of 3 so about £350, is there a better deal than this.

not bothered about having a disney hotel, i looked on laterooms and 4 there is a 'tulip' 3 star hotel 4m away, its not far from a train station that goes to DLP. Its £103 per night.

so if i book this hotel should i use the train, im likely to hire a car for a week so wondering what it will cost if i want to park it at DLP or is the train more convenient?

What will it cost me each day for food and drink, we will likely be there for lunch and dinner and there is 1 adult and 2 kids, i dont want to skrimp but im not wanting to be extravegant either. So what should i budget per day for spending and eating costs and does the car park cost anything?

buying one fantasy annual pass for you as the adult (and possibly your 12-year old too) and a childs 4-day ticket from 247 could be cheaper, and fantasy annual passes give you 10% discount on your party's restaurant bills and souvenir purchases. check out DLRPMagic for their information on annual passes (and relevant blackout dates for August)

if the Tulip is in Val d'europe, you will be cheaper on the train. You can get a carnet of 10 single journey tickets for around 13 euros between val d'europe and DLP (Marne la vallee station) and your 10-year old pays half fare.

for one adult and one 10-year old, I budget around 60-70 euros per day for food and snacks etc - so another 20 euros or so per day for 2 children?

hope this helps, there are lots of information forums around if you are planning a DLP trip, including a huge thread on this forum (I think its on page 2 or 3 now) :).
