Disneyland Paris/EuroDisney - Questions & Answers

We have booked via Expedia for Disneyland Hotel. 3 nights 4 days. Family of 4 @ £1016. Not too bad.
Two quick questions if someone can help ?
The booking is for a family room. Is there a way to upgrade at hotel for Luxury room ( available @ £1400 on disneylandparis.co.uk ) and is it cheaper to do that ?
do you mean upgrade to Castle Club? Don't wait to do that at the hotel, you will be charged full price (rack rate) at the hotel, which will negate the discount you got on your family room price.
And is it true that the characters no longer go to the hotels. When we have been before they did photos in the lounge before breakfast & in the lobby @ 4pm. If they no longer do this, why ?
Thanks
Lee
the characters are no longer in any of the onsite hotels, they were moved into the main park for EMH instead (prior to this change, you couldn't generally meet any characters in the parks until official park opening time, 10am, or later). Its a cost-cutting exercise, pure and simple, but it was well publicised in advance of the change being made, last year.0 -

I thought it was because people from (cheaper) non-Disney hotels were turning up in the Disney hotel lobbies to meet characters......Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Wow. That's such a shame. It was lovely to get some photos in the Main Street Lounge before Breakfast and so much easier than the park free for all. And the 4pm in the Lobby was nice too. It seems to really distract from staying in the Disney Hotel especially. Almost forces Cafe Mickey and/or Princess Auberge returant ? Do they do anything else ? How about meals I. The evening does Mickey etc still turn up there ? I also understand all the stage shows have gone too ?
When I looked at Disneyland.co.uk it offered a Luxury room with Terrace. I am not sure it's the castle club though as was only £1400 ?0 -

that never really caused a problem in the hotels - in my experience the queues were still very manageable for the morning character meet n greets, as they were managed, generally queued events.
There are now 6 or 7 at the most, characters in morning EMH in the park, available for meet n greets.
Compare that to at least 2 characters per morning, per onsite hotel (ie 7 hotels), who used to do the meet n greets there.0 -
Does anyone have experience booking for a big family?
Looking to take 4 adults, a 12 year old, 11 year old and 6 year old to DLP for 4 or 5 nights in the week starting 4th April 2015. Flying from Edinburgh or Glasgow airports, we would be looking to have 3 rooms (2 connecting into each other).
Would you recommend staying on site at Disney and if so how much should I be looking to spend?0 -

Inventions at the DLH is still a character dinner buffet, so is Sunday brunch there (but thats more expensive than the dinner).
Cafe Mickey and Auberge de Cendrillon are your only other options for character meals now, and they are both set-menu table service.
No, I wouldn't have thought a room with a terrace would be a Castle Club room, as those are on the higher floors of the Disneyland Hotel.0 -

you are only going to get one free child in your group, and I've just looked (i'm guessing its April 2016?) and thats in the summer price grouping, so its very expensive staying onsite.
I'd stay offsite but nearby, and get AP's bought in advance for your park tickets.0 -
Thanks ballet shoes, I'm literally getting cheaper prices for staying in Florida for 4 days! I've found a hotel called kyriad a disneyland that seems good for what we need and working out at £250 per person + park tickets.0
