Wednesday 1st July - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!:money:

Hi,
Thanks Ziggy:
:grinheart Stepping up for three weeks at work. Gulp. I did the same role at Christmas but I'm told this time it'll be harder work!
:grinheart Taking a packed lunch.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Ziggy.
Good luck acting up Ally hope it goes well.
Hope everyone managed to rest last night in this heat? Apparently it's going to hit 30 in London today. Baking. My place will be unbearable by late afternoon so good job I close up anyway.
I am deliberating over whether to stretch myself and put the £80 I need to pay my debt down to £4,500 towards that today now the CB is in. Or to put it away in my EF which with my regular savings amount will complete my EF this month. What would people do first?
Just had a booking for a class next week which will net me another £15 an hour for a few weeks. Not big but where better to report it than the small things thread.
Right off to sweat it out.

Watched the news and drinking coffee now and planning my delicous day off. Washing machine repair man due this morning, used for 4 months only and tripping electrics! 2nd machine in last 2 years to go when almost new. last one was 13 months old. Makes me so cross, are they built to fail?
Aunt goes back to her home today. Will miss her I have enjoyed our chill time and quiet chats.
Will be too hot to work so may be forced to watch wimbledon.
Farmyard will be quiet DS came in from work at 05.45 this morning. A 24 hour shift completed! no wonder farmers have accident....:(
Hope everyone has a good day. Feel I should mention Greek debt, maybe greeks government should read the forum?:rotfl:

Morning ziggy, ally, Maria & Bob :hello: Thanks for starting the thread ziggy :A
Set to be a beautiful day here :j
Small things for the day:
* [STRIKE]contact ex-boss to ask some questions including giving me an ex-gratia payment (they are paying me an additional 3 weeks salary on top of my 1 week notice. If they agree I won't pay tax or nat ins on it)[/STRIKE] Took the cowards way out and sent an email. Will have to follow up with a call later in the week if they don't respond. They didn't respond to my email asking for the reasons I was dismissed from last Wednesday so really I am just delaying the inevitable....
* all meals from stores
* NSD
* repot tomatoes, cucumbers & chilli plants
* finish digging over the soon to be veg patch. Dig in some compost and plant beetroot, carrots & pumpkin seeds
* read martin's email
* tidy round house and flylady bedrooms
* see if I have the materials in in the shed/garage to put up book shelves in dgd's bedroom
* got to go and sign on today at 12
* visiting ex-mil so will do that on my way back
* do a job search
* call tax credits and see if we're entitled to anything
* think about whether we are going to give notice to our CM. Terrible situation as dgd is so settled there
we have agreed we will keep her for a month and then at the end of this month give her notice (4 weeks) if I haven't found a job. The worrying thing is when I do get a job she might not have spaces left
Think that's all I need to do today. Have a lovely day whatever you are up to xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi everyone,
Good luck with stepping up Ally! Sorry you're still having to make tough choices Determined - hope things take a turn for the better soon. Wish I was watching Wimbledon Maria!
Well I rang the car insurance people and my renewal quote is just under £300, up £16 on last year. I'm just going to pay it but that leaves me with about £80 for the rest of the month :eek: No wonder Martin tells us to budget through the year to pay for these things - I did try to but then needed the money for something else
So anyway, I'm determined not to spend on the credit card this month (have £100 to pay from last month - I clear it every month now), and am determined to make my £80 last! I'll find ways of supplementing this by doing a car boot the weekend after next and selling some bits and pieces. I need that virtual slap as I still haven't taken the photos yet, but today has given me a kick up the behind!
Things have been developing very well with the OH so we've decided to move in together in the autumn (me moving into his place). This means I'll have more stuff to sell leading up to then
:T. We've also been discussing marriage!!! Possibly next year but it'll have to be budgeted for to the last penny! Still things to think about for the future...
So today:
- It won't be a NSD as I'm taking my £80 and going to ALDI as the cupboards are bare. We're going camping this weekend but OH said he is going to pay for that
- I also need to buy some lunch
Not a good start but I won't be doing this for the rest of the month!
- FPL and surveys to check
- Updated budget for the month
- I've moved my microwave to the OH's (I'm there all the time) and have his old one to drop off at the tip later - it's on the blink so can't sell it or donate it to charity
- Lot's to do at work but still the prospect of extra hours
- Start listing things this evening, we have a staff classifieds page at work, and stuff can also go on a local facebook selling page
It's funny how I feel much more motivated when I'm facing a very difficult month moneywise - let's hope I can keep it up!

Mornig All, thank you Ziggy for starting us off this morning.
Last weeks HE camp was enjoyed by all and a very cheap week, additionally we barely cooked as we camped as a group with 5 other families and prepared meals together which was much more fun and as we are all on tight budgets no one was trying to be extravigant, we did have lovely good quality food but it included lots of home made goodies which we brought with us including bread, cakes, biscuits, cordials, honey (sent from my friends bees :rotfl:), jam, sauces, marinades etc. One of the group in particular is a brilliant BBQ chef so lots of our food both savoury and sweet came curtesy of the BBQ
Since we have been home I feel our home has been drowning in camping stuff, gradually sorting that out. On Monday we had a day trip which we all enjoyed, special offer 80% off meant it was in budget :money:I don't think it was worth full price but excellent value at what we paid. Last night we went out for a belated birthday dinner, very good time was had by all and in budget. Today will was be a spendy day (only a couple of quid but even so) which will be 3 in a row :eek: I really must make tomorrow a NSD or I will be forming bad habits.
Today's I plan to:

Good Morning everyone,
Hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine :-D
Community a little worried at the moment. A local lad who moved away a few years ago has been missing since Sunday. His finance who is pregnant is worried out of his mind, no one seen him or heard anything. No argument or fallouts either. I hope he turns up safely but with the amount of time that's passed things are looking dim.Debt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -
Thanks for the advice Maria.
Great news Princess. £80 what does that need to cover?
Determined - keep on them. You deserve better than the way that they are treating you.
JoJo _ that is horrible. What a worry for all concerned.
Just finished the new cakes and lunch prep for today. I am boiling! Have had 2 customers today and taken a princely £7. Sometimes get a big group in on Wednesdays as they all go to a local mum and baby class then come here. Fingers crossed." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
