northern cyprus flights ercon airport help

thinking of going next year ,so trying to find some info on flights.
some sites say you can fly direct to ercon airport some say you have to stop in istanbul for eg and get another flight.
anyone been there ,and what airline /site did you use.

Was there some years back but remember having to land in Istanbul and sit on plane for approx 40-50 mins before taking off again for Cyprus.
Would imagine most of the info you are looking should be available in one of the Northern Cyprus brochures.

North Cyprus has direct air links only with Turkey, where all planes from Europe must first touch down.

https://www.greenislandholidays.com , BTW flights only touchdown if passengers to be dropped off/picked up, as long as they enter Turkish airspace, My last 2 flights to the UK didnt touchdown.

Northern Cyprus is not a recognised country by anyone in the world other than Turkey. Therefore you can't fly to it as it doesn't exist! This is why the flights land in Turkey as Turkey recognise Northern Cyprus.

Usually it is a courtesy visit where the plane lands, and sometimes some passengers get off at the Turkish airport.

It is interesting that ttoli sai.d on his return the plane did not touch down. Perhaps things are now changing, but I would be very doubtful you will ever fly out of the UK to a country that is not recognised by the UK

It doesn't have to be Istanbul it can be any turkish airport
