hello
I want to get rid of the magnolia in my hall and front room.
white walls and ceilings seem to be good at the moment.
Does anyone know which shade of white is good for painting walls and what type eg matt, eggshell?
thanks in advance

If you have kids then a gloss dark white (more black than white) :-)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi thanks.
I was in a housing development show home last week and all the walls were white but not pure brilliant white, more of a softer shade of white.
Does anyone know what is a good shade for painting?
Thanks0 -
We had our extension done in Dulux white Mist, we liked it so much that we had our lounge and dining room done in the same colour. It makes a nice blank canvas to set off our furniture and doesn't feel cold."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

Get a Farrow & Ball colour card and some sample pots.
I used Slipper Satin and was pleased with the result, this is F&Bs example of traditional neutrals -0 -

please don't show my wife this. :money:0 -
We've used Crown sail white, its a really nice soft white for walls
highly recommend it0 -
I'm looking into this for our extension - white but not white.
One thing I would advise is to use Dulux Endurance in a room with lots of traffic - we used regular matt in our old hallway and it became scuffed immediately. We repainted with Matt Endurance and it was great - matt finish but wipable. I think my decorator said it has vinyl in it??
I've just ordered samples of Dulux White Cotton, Timeless and White Mist - we want a grey tint if anything because the rest of our house is Polished Pebble which is a grey.0 -
I have farrow and ball strong white......it has a subtle grey undertone. I have it on my woodwork and my walls......
just get samples of shades of whites to find one that you like.....hope it looks fab when its finished.0
