Hi Guys,
we are currently in the middle of selling our house and it will be completed in about 6 - 8 wks.
we are moving from the midlands to south wales and starting afresh.
Because i bought my house a while ago we are quite lucky in that we have quite a bit of money left over, so my question is.
we want to go away somewhere nice maybe exotic, maybe far far away for about 3 weeks.
From middle of October but can be any time after that.
Problems:
We have a 14mth old son so wouldn't want to subject him to too much heat, or make him have injections. (i.e Gambia, Africa.)
we are not really beachy people, ok for a day but we both get bored.
we like scenery and walks so can't think of anything worse than being stuck in a complex and not being allowed out.
I was thinking maybe Thailand, Canada, USA, Carribean anywhere like that, i'm assuming that Europe will be cold not sure about Canada although i like the look of somewhere call Vancouver Island.
Haven't got thousands to spend but don't mind paying a bit if it's going to be one to remember.
So the race is on to find me a fab getaway.
On your marks

Very disapointed guys,

Can anyone please give me any suggestions at all ?????????????0 -
Sorry can't help. Due to my children not been good on flights i have only been in Europe with them. Has your little one flown before??
Rebecca x0 -
Not been myself but if I was in your position I would go to either Canada or Australia. The flight with the little one would be hard but worth it for 3 weeks in my opinion.
I have flown with both my children on long flights and we have coped, lots of imagination, hopefully loads of sleep and patience.0 -
wasn't too sure about the weather in Canada at that time though, don't want to freeze his little butt off

No he has never flow before so hopefully he will be ok, he's a nosey little booger so i can imagine having to walk up and down the isle for hours on end

Why not search skyscanner first inputting your chosen airports and given dates. I always think its preferable to be able to get to the nearest airport with a child (or in my case i want to get to my hol as quick as poss).
With skyscanner you can input from any airport and leave the destination open. After you have narrowed it down a bit try putting questions on tripadviser re weather. If you go somewhere like caribbean (maybe too beachy though, you need to make sure you have very good aircon.0 -
Canada will be COLD it starts cooling off in September.
I'd hesitate taking a very active toddler on a long (first) flight-especially if you opt not to pay for a seat for him. It can be be a matter of sanity (yours and the other passengers). For that reason I'd look a little closer to home. Egypt would be good distance and weatherwise with lots to see and do but the tummy upset situation isn't good. Cuba is a another good possibility-beachy but with things to see including Havana itself. Once Castro dies Cuba will change completely so going now means you'll see it before it changes and becomes Americanized.
USA you could visit a couple of places maybe Orlando for one and then either another part of the US completely say the Grand Canyon or how about a caribbean criuise where you'd be visiting several islands but without all the bother of constant packing and unpacking (this is easy to add onto Orlando). It is hurricane season but that isn't an issue with the cruise ships as if a hurricane warning happens they simply re-route to other islands.
I really really wouldn't consider Australia the flight is too long for a toddler especially one untried on shorter flights.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks duchy,
No i wouldn't even consider Australia myself so i wouldn't take him on that long a flight.
I quite like the sound of Cuba is it quite safe to walk around and do your own thing?0 -
Cuba is very safe....the penalties for crime are very high !
The Cubans are lovely people too-very warm and friendly.
Most of the holiday companies do 3 week holidays to Cuba and you can pay (approx £150 pp) extra to travel in their premier cabin which has a nicer seat, better food, shorter check in etc. I can recommend a really good travel agent who isn't tied to only selling certain holiday companies too. It's worth remembering that if you go to any of the big high street agencies they have to offer their own company's product first even if the competition are cheaper/more appropriate.
EDIT: I should probably add that any recomendation of travel agent I make privately is of no benefit to me. I used to work in the travel industry and I'd be recomending ex-collegues with whom I have no commercial connection.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
