Don't Get Done Get Dom - FOI

Received a reply from London Royal Free Hospital regarding refund of Parking Lie charge mentioned in the above programme:-

Further to your request for information please see the response below. The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust acquired Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust on 1 July 2014. This response covers all sites managed by the trust.

Your question

I have been watching the above program today and note that a lady paid a parking charge to a private parking company.

This was apparently refunded by The Royal Free Hospital.

Please explain from where the funds to make the refund originated from, as I would be appalled if they came from monies that were meant for patient care.

The response

If parking tickets have been paid any subsequently successfully appealed are refunded by the trust’s car parking contractor Parking Eye - not the trust. The refunded parking charge does not therefore affect the monies available for patient care.

Yours sincerely

Alison Macdonald

Glad to see that PE are forking out for that money. Compare and contrast this with Parking Prankster's latest blog where Barrow Borough Council are refunding up to £100 a time paid to Parking Eye because the council did not prosecute PE for breaking planning permissions.

That money has to come out of the council's coffers, so the poor council tax payers will end up paying for that and the council's spending budget will be reduced :-

  • Great that the victim of this illegality got a hundred quid, but, as in the FOI request above, where did the money come from ?

Hundred quid buys a lot of home care, respite care, library facilities etc etc.

Hmm if I remember rightly the person appealed and lost then paid PE, so are the trust being a little dishonest as to who paid up.

They seem to have answered generally not specific to that case.
