Delayed flight with Qatar Airways - Am I entitled to compensation???

My wife and I travelled to Thailand for our honeymoon with Qatar Airways. The flight from Heathrow to Bangkok (via Doha) was event free and the transfer process was very well organised. On the return leg, however, we had less time to transfer. We raised the concerns with customer services and were assured there would not be a problem. Upon checking in we again addressed our concerns with the staff and we were informed that we would be helped off the plane in Doha and assisted with our transfer. We were seated at the back of the aircraft and when we landed the planes walkways filled with passengers even as we taxied. When we finally got off we found the gate with minimal effort only to be told that the gate was closed (even though we could still see people embarking and with 25 minutes to scheduled take-off time). We were offered a place in the lounge with not much more than a glass of orange juice and a pastry (dry country) and put on the next flight which was four hour away. We should have returned to the UK at 6 pm, instead we arrived after 10 pm and nearly missed the last tube. Are we entitled to compensation?

Qatar is a non-EU airline and your delay was outside the EU so EU261 does not apply for compensation or duty of care.

You could check your travel insurance but many policies payments only kick in after 12 hour delay
What was the gate closure time on your boarding pass? If it was less than 25 minutes then you could check the Qatar T&Cs for denied boarding
