Posted this initially on Techie Stuff board but still no solution, so trying here.
Hope someone can help me, I can't believe i'm the only one struggling but must be putting the wrong keywords on Google.
I've just installed the new Outlook app and (possibly too hastily) uninstalled the old Outlook.com app on my 1st gen Moto G running Lollipop 5.0.2.
For the life of me, I can't find how to get all my Outlook contacts to sync with the Contacts and Messaging apps on my phone so that calls and texts are identified by contact name rather than number. Was all working fine until I changed the apps.
I know i can access the contacts through the Outlook app but the Contacts app was easier to use, and texts identified by only number are really annoying.
TIA

Hi
I had the same issue. try this
Open play store
click menu
click 'my apps' slide across from installed to 'all'
re-install the old app.
re-sign in, then you have your contacts back.
Now back them up - export all contacts to sd card, then import all contacts from sd card - you have an sd card backup - and these show on your phone. You should now be able to uninstall the old outlook app and still have your contacts
Not sure how to connect them up to gmail from there though0 -
I thought the Outlook app was carp and uninstalled it. Absolutely nothing like Outlook on a Windows phone , tablet or PCThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Thanks for suggestions, but Moto G 1st gen doesn't have an external memory card unfortunately.
The contacts are available on my phone through the Outlook app but don't link with the generic Contacts or Messenger apps meaning texts aren't identified by the senders name0 -
This article explains why you should not (and certainly companies!) use the app:

Used PC to export from Outlook then import to Google and all is back as it was. Going to give GMail a try0
