I received a pcn for £60 from the peel centre Stockport.
Two weeks ago I parked here and for various reasons didn't put a ticket in the car, "the alleged contravention was detected and recorded by able"
I feel absolutely stupid as it was quite a genuine mistake.
I've read the newbie post and it seems my options are to write and say I feel the fine is disproportionate, even extortionate....
Or just ignore it and risk court proceedings?
Thanks in advance a skint and law abiding mummy on mat leave

That is unhelpful. Are you deliberately trolling, or what?

Indeed, OP should pay them, but no more than a tenner, to cover their losses. Anything more is greed and an unenforceable penalty
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

So the fine is £60 and yes I appreciate I'm totally at fault but even so I don't want to pay it!

this topic has come up on here hundreds of times in the last 4 years

the only difference was that in the past it was a BPA matter so POPLA adjudicated

now its an IPC matter so the IAS (kangaroo court) adjudicates

send the template letter "as is" to EXCEL and appeal it (even if appealing on their site)

if they dont cancel, do what the rest of the NEWBIES sticky thread says about IPC members (ignore unless you get real court papers)

there is no "magic wand" to make this go away , so you may be in IGNORE MODE for 6 years, unless they issue an LBC or an MCOL

its an easy mistake to make , but not easy to fix, unfortunately

I would actually ignore it, on balance, at least until a LBCCC arrives, if it does.

Can't see the point appealing to Excel because you won't be bothering with the IAS stage. So do nothing and ignore any debt collector letters. But be ready to take seriously any 'Letter before Claim' from Excel themselves (ignore any version from a debt collector).

AND EDIT YOUR FIRST POST ABOVE NOW, YOU'VE GIVEN AWAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE EVENT AND THE DAY/LOCATION.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

no not at all. Why blame a "baby brain"? Many people have things on their mind but are still expected to abide by a set of rules.
you have parked and failed to display a ticket therefore you are at fault.

Why when someone doesn't like a response they always bring up trolling is beyond me.

A forum is about listening to all views whether you agree with them or not.

Err, excuse me mate, what's the name of this forum? Money Savings Expert. It's not here for you to dispense your version of justice.

If you want to help the OP save some money, that's fine, if not, toddle off old chap!

    No it isn't.

Now, off you go and start complaining about that car that's parked on your driveway that you have no recourse to getting shifted. Especially due to the do-gooders who normally hang around on here being helpful.

My post below was in response to a rather rude and foul-mouthed post directed at me by 'loskie'. He has since removed that post. Maybe I should have 'quoted' it at the time of my response, so everyone could see a permanent reminder of his 'style'! I've added this to set the context for my comments below.

Well, well, well - what a brave little boy you are, bashing that keyboard.

Shoplifting is a criminal offence; we never condone anything criminal here. Private parking charges are simply civil issues - seemingly beyond your current comprehension.

And thank you for spotting that gross error in my typing; what a joy you must be on forums. MA in English, I would surmise!
