Hello,
I am fairly new to MSE, I have only posted a couple of posts before, and never seem to get them in the right place, so sorry if this needs moving to somewhere more suitable.
I was wondering if anyone would help with any china knowledge!
I bought myself a lovely plate, a turquoise/gold scalloped Elizabeth II coronation plate, and have scoured the internet to try and find out more about it, if its a copy, or a good 'make' or anything. There is only one stamp on the back, a golden E II R and nothing else. It came with a £15 o.n.o sticker on it, and I picked it up for a pound. I quite fancy it hanging on the wall on my kitchen, or making a cake stand out of it, but thought that I should perhaps check that it isn't a 'one in a million' before I got my dad to drill a hole through the middle of queenie's face to make way for a metal stick!!:rotfl:
Thank you in advance!0 -
aaahhh, whatever you do dont drill a hole in it! Its not massively valuable I dont think but they are getting hard to get hold of so will always hold some value for anyone who collects china. Please dont drill it!0

I shall opt for the wall hanging option then!0

Royal memorabilia has virtually no value at all, except for a few rare pieces.
I recently donated a box load to a charity shop, some even pre dated the Coronation of our current Queen, but I was being offered 50p a box load at a car boot and know the CD can do much better.
However, OP if you are keeping it in case prices pick up then don't even hang it on the wall. Plate holders are fine for run of the mill stuff, but all of them damage the plate a little.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I know theyre not valuable but I still think its worth keeping as it is, there is certain sort of kitsch to them and they look fab mixed in with rose patterened china of thats your sort of thing.0

On Sunday we were down to our last ten pounds and were feeling very worried as we do not get paid until Friday.
By chance I was browsing this thread on my phone Sunday morning and it made me decide there and then to go to the carboot sale. Luckily enough our local one doesn't start until noon.
We already had a few boxes of things which we were planning on selling/giving to charity and instead of buying a paste table we used our coffee nest table and my T.V table.
Deducting the cost of selling, we made about £45.. which I realise to someone of the people who have been posting isn't a lot.. but it really made the difference when broke!
Edit: The reason I am posting this is to thank you all for your tips and advice that you have shared here.0 -
We are about to embark on our first CBS, and were planning on going to a very large one which we have visited as buyers in Bursledon. However, would it be better to go to a slightly smaller sale? Someone said that with the very big sales buyers don't have a chance to get round all the cars, and I know that we only ever manage to get around a third of this sale.
Lots of traders there though and we know to head for the back field where it is nearly all private sellers.
Thanks to everyone for all the tips on here.0 -
