I currently have a Nokia Lumia 520 and i experience the following common problems:

1) I have to recharge my batter daily, sometimes twice a day

2) I have 4gb a data a month, and I use close to it.

Usually it's a matter of reducing the number of apps running in background and switching off bluetooth and, possibly, WiFi and GPS when not needed.

Stop listening music and watching videos online.
For reducing mobile data usage allow upgrades via WiFi only. Do all downloading on WiFi only.

Battery life isn't very good in any smartphone. Others might disagree with that; expectations and usage differs.

The good news is that, apparently, better batteries are on their way; perhaps in a couple of years.

If you pop in to Data Sense under Settings you can see what's using data.

Also under Settings, Battery Saver will show where your battery power has been used. There's also an option there to conserve power, however you lose access to a few features.
