    I think it's a pity that all these posters who join to complain about Teletext Holidays (a company that I've never booked with, btw) never come back to say whether Teletext have actually resolved their issues.
  • Why oh why, did I not review this forum 2 weeks ago, I am kicking myself

    I was quoted for on for a holiday on the teletext holiday web site, and called up.

    The holiday featured:

    A flight a flight to crete , which included a checked-in bag and the accommodation request was, All Inclusive board. At a cost of £562.


    So I booked the holiday and paid in full my debit card. ( I am a fool I know, I could find my credit card)


    When the confirmation was email came through my holiday was changed.


    The flight had no checked-in Luggage and accommodation was changed to half board. For the same cost of £562.



    I contacted the support line several times, and had to I explain the issue each time. Only to be told they would investigate and get back me or I had agreed to a new quote (which I knew nothing about) on worst terms.


    I have wasted hours on the phone. I feel like I have been fob off and ripped off.





    I was advised they were going listen to call recordings, and come back me.(when??)


    My advice to everyone and anyone thinking about booking with teletext holidays don’t book with them, don’t trust them. Never, never again.

    If a holiday is a little too cheap or cheaper than the other sites beware, you may pay in other ways.



    I was told if a wanted to cancel my holiday I would only get a fraction of my money back.


    So again don’t book with them.
  • Hi Guys, I have had the worst experience of my life with Teletext. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY to anyone. Very unprofessional and unreliable service. The reviews they have speak for themselves. They have a lack of knowledge on the travel industry and will tell you anything by all means possible to get you to book with them and spend your hard earned money. Firstly let me tell you I am currently studying and this is my month of exams which you can imagine is a very stressful time in my life. Due to studying outside of London my Parents have guardenship over my son. I really wanted to spend some time with my son I explained to the teletext advisor we want a lovely break gave her my buudget. She suggested Turkey saying it is very safe. Upon doing further research this is not the case and I wanted a holiday change asap not to put my sons life in Danger as my Parents would not let my son travel with me to Turkey total cost of holiday £729.00 all inclusive to travel end of May 2016. After doing research and finding out I need a visa which the Teletext advisor did not advise. I called the next day explaining my situation and asking for a flight change this was the 20.04.16. Since this date I have been hung up on, promised to be called back and to no avail. Once speaking to numerous advisors they said contact Thompson in which I did numerous times and they referred me back to Teletext. Teletext will make you speak with different advisors that never follow up your situation and our not willing to help. I have been chasing for a month now. On calling yesterday again another advisor said it will cost me £140 to flight change to spain plus £500 to book a new hotel in Spain. This company have no customer service or Loyalty their aim is to rip hard working good people off. I have been crying non stop and can not focus on my exams. I called again today an hour ago and was told someone will call me back within 5 minutes.......As writting this post they have still not contacted me. All you get is empty promises and no call back. I have no holiday but they have my hard earned money. You would think all the bad reviews they have they will make changes a simple destination change has taken over 4 weeks and now prices have raised so close to my holiday because they could not be bothered and now they expect me to front the bill when I have been doing everything in my power to resolve this issue. I have asked to speak to Management no-one is ever available! Now its to late for me, this has effected my exams, health and my 9 year old son. Please dont do it. I would not refer my worst enemy (which I have none) to use a company like this!!!! They should be shut down!!!!! Disgraceful 3 weeks before we fly no flight details or hotel!!!!!! Give me my money back asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The time I should be spending revising, I have spent chasing Teletext Holidays and this may turn out bad for me in regards to examinations, sleepless nights and no help from Teletext. Please use a reputable company, who will not mislead you and value you as a customer!!!!!

    As I'm typing this I am sitting on my balcony over looking the sea in Fethiye, Turkey. Blue skies and 32 degrees today. No sign of trouble... Very happy on my Thomson Holiday.

    With the greatest respect I think you are working yourself up over nothing and this will be doing you no good when your mind should be on your revision pre exams.

    Demand for holidays to Turkey is reportedly down this year as people choose 'safe' destinations such as Spain and Portugal. Thousands of UK travellers will however come out to Turkey and have a wonderful holiday. There are also many deals available to Turkey at the moment because of this reduced demand, another reason why perhaps Teletext found you a well priced holiday that you agreed to book.

    Assuming you hold a UK passport the visa for Turkey is a small formality. It costs $20 and you can apply on line for it or buy it on arrival at the airport. In the greater scheme of things it is not a lot of money and not a reason to cancel your holiday or seek to switch to another destination.

    I very much doubt that Teletext will move your holiday to one in Spain free of charge. Or let you cancel without penalty. I think you will need to make a call as to whether you take the loss of money on your holiday, pay what Teletext ask to amend it, or simply come out to Turkey as booked and have a nice holiday.

    Many people would agree that Teletext Holidays leaves a great deal to be desired from a customer service point of view, but with respect this issue has been in the headlines for months and everyone has to take some responsibility for their own decisions. Turkey hasn't suddenly changed, the dangers particularly in the cities have been enough to put a lot of people from travelling, so there are lots of bargain holidays but you decided nonetheless to book the holiday.

    You say it is only 4 weeks before departure so you are into 50% cancellation fees with most operators, have they agreed where you are going and you are just waiting the new documentation or has nothing been agreed? if it is the latter, then send an email indicating that 'time is of the essence' and if you do not receive full details by return you will contact your card company and allege a failure to supply the services paid for.

    All the major tour operators - including Thomson, Thomas Cook - are still offering holidays to Turkey.
    If you had gone to one of those companies with your budget they may well have suggested a holiday to Turkey.

    As for doing further research on 'safeness' after booking - do you not watch the news or read any newspapers?

    I would not hesitate to go to back to Turkey - if I didn't already have a holiday booked to Greece - and some aquaintances of ours who have an apartment in Turkey are taking their pre-school age granchildren in the next week.
