DO NOT by from ao.com

DO NOT buy from AO.com, they are just another cowboy outfit. They are quick to take your money and then absolve themselves of any responsibility if the appliance is falsely specified on their website.
I bought a Smeg UK34XPNF fridge freezer that had the reversible door feature stated in the specification only to be later told by AO.com, that in fact the doors can only be swapped by a Smeg engineer. The cost for this, £70.00.
When I pointed out to AO.com that it does not state anywhere in the specifications given on their website that an additional cost will be incurred to have the doors swapped, there reply was, "It says on our website that the doors are reversible because they are and we're not required to offer any more information than this.", basically what they are saying is that they could not care less and I'm lumbered with it so ha, also if I want to return my appliance they will charge me 45% of the value that I paid for it.
At present we can only use the freezer door by placing a thin wire on the door using a sticky tape to open it as there is no space to get the hand into the handle from the side.
To summarise I am stuck with a fridge freezer that I can't use properly through no fault of my mine and yet I am out of pocket and both AO.com and Smeg say it's not there problem.
Buying from AO.com has been a most bitter experience and I would hope that other customers can save themselves from suffering a similar fate by avoiding shopping with them.
Needless to say I will not be shopping with AO.com anymore.

So much hate here for for AO.
If you're not happy with your purchase send it back, get a refund and purchase something more suitable: http://ao.com/services/fourteen-day-returns-guarantee.0 -
The ad states right hand hinge, is that what you wanted ?0

Have you looked at the fittings? I can't see anything that would make it any more difficult than any other fridge.0

I'd still use ao.com if need be, despite 2 recent threads not being happy with ao.com.0

I already have.
I purchased a washer-dryer from them about two and a half years ago.
Unfortunately it stopped working after a few days.
However, coincidentally, AO called me to ask if I was happy with my purchase. I explained what had happened and they sent an engineer out to repair it. He replaced the logic board. No problems since then.
I guess the purpose of the call was to flog me extended insurance, but it didn't get that far.0 -
It is difficult when English is your second language. Thats not their fault though.0

Despite the usual 'the company have done nothing wrong', from the usual suspects, this is very poor behaviour on the part of AO.
All sorts of things are possible on all sorts of products. If something is advertised as xxx-able and xxx does not obviously require anything other than trivial parts, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that you can perform the transformation yourself. (You would not expect to be told that a jacket with a reversible lining had to be taken to a seamstress to reverse.)
In your position I would write to AO and tell them that the item is not fit for purpose as you cannot use it in the way it was advertised. Give them a reasonable amount of time to rectify the situation and if they do not do a chargeback (assuming you bought by CC).There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

With many suppliers it's worth taking a chance because even the best occasionally get it wrong and upset customers. (Or don't get it wrong and still upset customers!)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0
