I've been saying for a very long time that I'm surprised that whatsapp haven't implemented this... I don't know why it's taken them so long but it certainly makes it an app worth having in my opinion.
I haven't used it to make calls yet, but then i don't use it for messages unless I find myself somewhere with no signal but wi-fi.0 -
Viber have been offering this service for a long time0

I've never used Viber but I think Whatsapp has a lot going for it in the way that it uses the phone number and more sort of integrates into the phone than the likes of skype and I imagine Viber does.
It's all personal preference of course and what the majority of your other contacts use... In my case that's whatsapp and I'm really pleased to see this service offer, it means I can probably get away with a contract with less minutes.0 -

Unfortunately Viber doesn't have the presence or user base of whatsapp. There's probably one Viber user to every 10 Whatsapp users (at least in my experience).
Whatsapp is also more polished and integrated into the OS when compared to Viber.====0 -
Anyone else getting awful echo on this? I've only used it a few times as the echo is so bad!The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

No, but call quality is dependent on the quality and speed of your data connection.====0 -
Giving your whole phone book to Facebook for some free calls? no thanks.0
