Southerly backing garden

Hi everyone,
We're thinking of moving and have been looking at properties online. I've come across a couple that refer to the gardens as being 'Southerly backing' - does this just mean North facing??
I've googled it but can't seem to find a definition.
Thanks in advance,
SB

Sun all day in the back garden!0

no sun at the front"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

I believe northerly fronting is quite similar, and quite delightful too, in its own way.
However, avoid westerly leaning and easterly slipping, especially in coastal areas.

If you have a photo of the front of the house, use streetview and then Google Maps with satellite imagery to double check. You should hopefully know which house it is.We tried but couldn't work out which one was the house. Thanks anyway.
Then to see how much sun it gets use
