Just put your own name and address, or "not applicable".

The application form is stupid as it makes employer information mandatory, despite accepting applications from retired, unemployed and self-employed people.

I suppose I should have asked about filling the form in, but as the adviser said I'd need to take documentation in to a branch it should all be sorted there. Was told I'd get a call back with an appointment from a local branch by Wednesday.

How is that? If I use the switching service and switch then I've still switched? I don't think any T&Cs say you can only have an account with only that 1 bank?
The best answer to the first question would have been "by BACS Direct Credit", ie salary, benefits, or pension as applicable.

Remember, they want you to switch...and that's what they're paying you to do..

Yesterday people on here were saying not to lie -_-"
They're paying me to switch, and if I switch an account with £20 then it's still me switching over

    Debt-free and Proud! Mortgage-free Glee!
    Oops.

I closed my HSBC account on Saturday after some terrible customer service over the last few weeks (spookily, that was to do with upgrading to an advance account). So, I'm sat here waving bye bye to some free money.

Shame that, as along with the Loyalty ISA and Regular Saver I was looking for an executor account and accounts for 4 trustees. I explained all this to the clerk and the complaints department that she rang for me. They didn't seem too fussed about losing me as a customer.

Hey ho, looks like I'm sticking with Santander for the foreseeable then.

The online application - is it only designed for people in employment?

My father who pensioner wanted to apply for this account. Despite selected Pensioner the 2nd page still asked for Employers name and address. Will not let it go further until details entered.

I also found I couldn't proceed and as far as I could see there are no ways to avoid selecting various wrong, false or innapropriate options that would then give the wrong information to HSBC.

I have therefore made an appointment in a local branch which surprise is a 'financial review' to discuss my future financial plans and goals with me.

Er I want £120 switch bonus and £120 ISA boost ta.;)

Tempted but will have to think regarding HSBC goings on.
  • I've applied tonight via online it came back as 5 working days too.

I may have slightly over exaggerated my income to show I made 1800 I will update when I hear back.

Only doing it for the switch money, going to hold out applying for an ISA this year for if/when the help to buy ones come in.

All the more reason to take £120 from them.
