Educating maybe, not berating.
I'm sure there's something you're not so good at too. With a lot of people it's computers.
My GF is crap with cars, owns a Ford KA, but still manages to check the levels and tyres every week, she even changed the battery with my supervision.
I'm not going to berate OP though, as TV/media these days does seem to like telling people they're idiots. Particularly certain adverts for changing/replacing light bulbs by a certain well known chain.
So its partially lack of confidence and it's partially down to outside influences........ I mean why can't most people change a light bulb on a car?
Are they physically disabled? NO
Are they inherently stupid? NO
Do they grow up believing they can't do this stuff? YES
Do they grow up with other people doing this stuff for them? YES
Does this leave them without any basic technical skills? YES
Is it their fault they grew up wrapped in cotton wool? NO
On top of that, for women in particular, this stuff isn't socially acceptable and the prettier they are, the more they have done for them and the less life skills they get to learn.
Society is to blame, not the individual.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

We are hardly in a position to judge the roadworthiness of ops car based on the fact she had to top up the coolant.0 -

Based on the fact that the OP admits she has checked the coolant level only twice in "a few years", it's probably fair to assume that the tyres, lights, etc. have not been checked as frequently as they should.
While that doesn't mean the car is not roadworthy, it doesn't inspire much confidence that it is.0 -

Nope but a lack of IT skills can lead to such nastiness as bank details being stolen etc. What will your verse be?

I don't look after the car as well as I should. but I make sure its gets serviced every year. I don't mind being berated, but on the flip side perhaps the beraters could also offer some advice or solutions at the same time!...seriously I got tough skin so I can take anything you want to throw at me, but remember it may put others off from seeking advice in the future.0
