Best basic emergency phone for children
Options
Dear All,
I have a 10 YO daughter and want to give her a phone that is mostly for emergencies, but also does texts
But doesn't do internet, apps etc.
It all seems quite complicated:
I want PAYG, and ideally free texts, or low cost ones, and low cost calls.
I need a phone and a service as it were.
Any ideas?
cheers,
Albert

There are phones for 99p if you qualify for PAYG upgrade, otherwise £15+ on PAYG with a new sim.
All phones are not locked.

EE signal.
ATM, there is no such thing as 'free' texts, but possibly there will be soon:

Thanks
3 seems to have the cheapest PAYG tariffs
But this needs 3G
Does anyone know if any company sells a 'basic' phone that has 3G?

How is 3's 3-2-1 cheaper than Delight's 3-2-1?!
Nowadays a 'basic' 3g phone is a 'basic' smartphone, although '3' do sell a rare exception - Samsung S5611 Utopia for £30 on PAYG.0 -
Many thanks!0

I also recommend Delight Mobile, and their cheap bundles last a month as opposed to EE's 7 days. Asda sell cheap PAYG phones under £10 instore (no topup required) These can include a proper LED torch or FM radio (and sometimes both) They usually come locked to Asda Mobile or EE but IDK if both will work with a Delight SIM.Many thanks!0

Another thought, a better, but cheap android with gps.... have a decent data plan on it, these have location services, so u can keep tabs on where the fone is, and hopefully your offspring is attached to it....0
