Apple would only deal with certain aspects of the warranty, they now give those unfortunates a leaflet that advises how now apple purchased phones have to be handled by the network it was purchased from if it falls within the extended consumer rights..

'Extended consumer rights' is the Apple name for giving warranty coverage in months 13-24 to handsets sold directly by Apple.

Ive never had an issue with getting a network sourced iphone repaired or replaced at a Genius Bar while it's less than 12 months old.

better togo direct with the manufacture for repair, using phone4u as an example lots lost their phones sent in for repair
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Definitely, especially with Apple as they will sort it while you wait in 90% or more of the time, so no need for sending it away at all.

It's funny how all of sudan giffgaff has had a change of heart...

"It is your absolute right to complain to the ombudsman and I want to apologise that we have not been able to resolve this in a way which meant you didn't feel the need to complain.

I do want to assure you though that I have personally stepped in on this issue and that we are looking into what we can do to make this right for you. I know one of my team has reached out to you and we will continue to find a way to fix this.

    Gregg"

The follow up to this from the customer -

"I provided the communication I had from Samsung and the decision has been made to replace my handset - I couldn't be happier!!! I should in fact have it delivered shortly. I have sent my old handset back.

It's unfortunate that I had to go to such lengths to resolve this matter but I think once I had shouted about it enough, my voice was heard and the problem resolved. so, thank you!"

It's a pity giffgaff didn't treat its customer right from the get go rather than messing him around. Giffgaff's support and many of its "community" are often very cynical when there's a problem.
