We had an air cooler a couple of years ago and it was utterly useless, even adding ice to the water tank didn't help.

It went to the dump in the end and we went back to using a normal fan.

thats what im worried about.... dreading the temps next week :(

I know your baby is very young but you need to try to stop worrying. Your baby will be fine, air con or not. Your baby will let you know if he's too cold or too hot.

Just keep an eye on him. Set your alarm if you need to, to check he's okay. The majority of parents manage perfectly well without any air con/cooling devices.

I live in a house with dormers for bedrooms, they get incredibly hot during the summer due to the flat roof. My kids are 28 and 14, they both survived hot and cold weather. You might have a few sleepless nights checking on him but he'll be absolutely fine !
  • Hi! To cool the house by 2-3 degrees, do wet cleaning.

Just to double check with people who have an Air Cooler, will it do the job in a room that's 23-24 degrees? Just want to bring it down by about 3-5 degrees for the night time so its more comfortable.

I have just read some stuff on google which has said they are basically expensive fans and don'd drop the temperature at all, and only work if you have a good air flow, but that's one of the problems with the room, we don't have any decent air flow, even with the window open, the air flow is very poor.

Sorry to be a pain with all the questions.

One of ours will take DD's room down from 23-24 to 18-19 but we have it running all day and add ice at night.

Can't baby just sleep in a nappy? Vest and sleepsuit sounds too much for this time of year.

    This!

The baby does not need to be in a vest and sleepsuit if it is so warm.

When my child was a baby and we holidayed in much warmer climes, they just slept in a nappy.

On the grobag itself it says for rooms 20-24 to put them in a vest and a 1 tog grobag, would you not recommend it then?

It's better to keep your baby cooler rather than too warm.

The nappy will be quite warm to sleep in in itself.

Try just a sleepsuit or a vest whilst it's so warm. They will soon let you know if they are cold.
