Remote Assistance is of no help here, the user is fully aware that they are being watched!0

Not sure if this is what you're after, but try Real VNC. Remote control and viewing software.
Basic edition is free.

I use realvnc quite good a little slow on updating screen though.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
I preferred tightVNC to realvnc as it has better network preformance.
Tight VNC
You need to install the server on the machine you want to watch and then use the a java browser or client on your machine. The server does show an icon in the task bar to show it's running - Tho this is hackable.0 -
Thanks for your replies - I think I'll try the VNC route...I love a nice juicy "kebab"...0

well there are two different things people are talking about here:
- remotely connecting
- pc monitoring
VNC allows users to use their computers remotely, when logged in the user won't know they are being watched (if its set up properly) unless you move the mouse or somthing similar.
A lot of remote connection software removes the background, and changes the colour depth so its quicker over the internet.
There are others like vnc: pc anywhere, remotely anywhere, remote desktop control etc....but...
To watch you teenager you will have to be on when they are as its live feed not logging. So i think monitoring software is more suited to you. This way it will log all actions that is made on the pc, if configured it can then email the results or you can check it on the pc.
Also as said some routers will log all connections.
I'll have a look for some freeware versions, if not trial's/0 -
If the machine you want to check the web access is on your network, why not map a network drive to the admin share of the pc? i.e \\pcname\c$, then browse the current user's documents and settings and then internet history. This can be done without the user knowing you have connected and you can have a wee peek, without trace. You could then check out the web sites from your own pc, to see what's what.
Just a thought......0 -
Using admin share is a good way. If you find any sites you don't want them to look at add them to the restricted sites in their Internet Explorer (I think you can password protect this).
To be honest I hadn't thought about this on a home network. On a commercial network you could look through the firewall logs but it isn't normally possible on a home network.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

The trouble is, the internet history is being cleared every session, otherwise I could check it on that pc...I love a nice juicy "kebab"...0
