An extremely hectic day at work means number 12 NSD has landed in the Cauldron of Doom.
Just tomorrow and Friday, then off for a fortnight - can't wait, definitely ready for some rest.

Igor, have you and Chef sorted out the arrangements for the Summer Ball yet? You only have nine days till end of the month...And please, Igor, get a classy string quartet or something, or a small orchestra, we need to up the tone of these events, as all us girls are dying to wear our posh ballgowns. And learn to make champagne cocktails as well, we have plenty of booze left over from your non-wedding reception last weekend......oops, me and my big mouth, come back, Igor, Aunty Nargle didn't mean it....

I didn't get an NSD yesterday or today.

Interview was a complete waste of time :(

When I left my CV in the store I was asked if I was looking for a part-time job or a career, to which I replied a career and the more hours the better. At the interview they told me the 'bad' about the job then the 'good', before asking if I had any questions. First was hours and shift pattern, to which I was informed most contracts are 10 hours, a few are 12, and in exceptional circumstances they may offer 15 - but at busy periods it may be possible to get overtime to get up to 20 hours !! And they're not fixed shifts (rota runs about 2 or 3 weeks in advance) so you can't even look for another job to fit around it. I need at least 28 hours (at minimum wage) for my income to cover essential bills and an annual bus ticket for commuting, but that gives nothing for car or house repairs, clothes, shoes, days/evenings out, holidays or presents for even closest family (ie. GDs) and depends on my being able to cut my grocery spends by at least another 25%.

At least I'd walked there, so didn't waste bus money as well as time ;)

cw sorry to hear about the job interview but it sounds like it would be a waste of your time and talents. Where I work we only know our shifts four or five weeks in advance which is a total pain, but at least we are on permanent contracts for a set number of hours each week. I am sure the right job for you will turn up soon.
