When applying for the switching bonus (if that's the reason for switching), it is usually a condition that the existing account is closed as part of the process.
Your existing lender will write to inform they've taken instructions from your new Bank, to contact them if this is not the case, and that they are sorry to see you go.
Its only a personal opinion but in today's world of advanced hacking, etc, if an account I wanted closed is still open when it shouldn't be, I would phone the Bank and have them close it manually. I think it pays not to have loose ends but I am probably being overly-cautious.0 -

Thought I would post this here to avoid creating a new thread and sorry if it has been asked before.
How often can I switch bank accounts? As in could I just go through all the switching bonus banks or would they see my credit file and fail me after the second or so?0 -
There are no inherent limits or hard and fast rules on this, but as you say the more credit applications you make in a short period of time then the more likely it is that a prospective lender is influenced by them. Obviously a lot depends on the state of your credit records in the first place, and it's also worth bearing in mind that banks can and do refuse applications for reasons other than credit status....PrinceYumil wrote: »Thought I would post this here to avoid creating a new thread and sorry if it has been asked before.
