Mis-sold / Misrepresented by O2. options?
Options
Hi all,
My girlfriend bought an O2 Mobile contract a month ago. One of the key reasons for doing so was that the sales person in the store told her calls back to her home country of Hungary would only cost her 4p per minute.
She has just looked online, after making several calls during the month, to find that actually she is being charged £1 per minute.
We dont have a written copy of the contract but, from what i have read online, this is immaterial as the acts of the sales team member in the store misrepresented the tariff.
We have spoken to O2 customer support who have given us a £10 'goodwill gesture' but they were unable to do anything else becuase it is simply our word vs the in-store sales person's.
Can someone advise us on our options? Ideally we want O2 to honour the 4p per minute call rate we were offered. Or completely cancel the contract without any charges (any not charging for the calls already made).

Without proofs you'll struggle to enforce the promised 4p or cancel the contract. Complain to get the sales person punished. Then register with 18185 to use inclusive minutes to call Hungarian landlines/mobiles for 4p/15p.
There could be even cheaper options: International Callchecker.
Also, O2 have 'International Favourites' bolt-on giving 3000 minutes of calls to landlines and 100 to mobiles for £10 (to 3 pre-selected numbers). £10=4p*250minutes.0
